I was just wondering if anybody else has been having problems with Rogers/Fido's network as of lately. Of course not taking into consideration yesterday since it is expected that there will be some network congestion therefore a few hiccups in service. I am referring more as of past month or so. I have noticed that more and more SMS messages go unreceived for instance, sometimes even calls.

On a side note, could it be a problem with my blackberry or the SIM card alone? Sometimes my BB will just go into SOS mode out of the blue....:( Rogers is not making me a happy camper.

Rogers is the devil incarnate. I can't tell you how many times they have fucked up simple things.

The one thing they do well though, is throw compensation at the problem rather than ensure it gets fixed. A few minutes on their help line may be worth it in terms of comps on your bill. Don't waste your time with the front line reps though, as for a supervisor right away

I'm just glad that the Canadian Gov't has finally opened the doors to allow more carriers to saturate the Canadian market and force better competition and better pricing.

Comparing Bell and Rogers is like comparing PCs and Macs. I don't trust/rely on anyone's opinion. When you control such a large share of the market, there will always be vocal minorities who received bad service. You don't hear from the other 80-95% who are happy/content with their service.

I remember a guy who was stiffing Rogers on his cell phone bill (he had changed carriers mid-contract and didn't want to pay the penalties) and would bitch about how crappy Rogers was b/c they were always calling him. Well yeah, cuz he was weaseling out of paying his bill!

When it comes to Rogers vs. Bell, I think it's a crap shoot. You'll always be able to find people who hate one or the other (or both). But I think the honest truth is they're very comparable and competitive with each other and there's probably not all that much difference in terms of quality of service. Your specific fact situation may determine that one is better than the other, but overall I'd say they're probably about equal.

I have both Rogers and Bell. I notice when I go down the basement that Bell loses the signal entirely while Rogers is still almost max. With Bell I can also miss a call and go up to 12 hours before the message indicator comes on. I'm about to drop Bell.

Regarding customer service I am happy with Fido (my current carrier) but Rogers failed me miserably in this area. Funny thing is that most of us have been with Rogers for so long for internet and cable, yet that does not account for anything. On the other hand if you have been with Rogers Wireless for a certain amount of time and spend a certain amount of money per month then you get priority CS and become branded/coded a "Friend of Ted's" which means better CS as well as less time on hold, etc.....

By no means did I want to compare Bell to Rogers, but I wanted to know if other people were experiencing SMS messages MIA as much as I seem to be lately.
