Rogers misbilling for adult movies?

has anyone watched the CFTO segment the last few days where Rogers customers are getting billed for adult movies which they claim they didn't order? the original complainee was billed $800 and she claims neither her nor or husband/boyfriend ordered any. Then other people have called in to complain, with the same problem - some being billed $2700!

Rogers says there is no doubt they ordered it and refuses to negotiate with them. When asked why someone would order the same movie within minutes of each other? Rogers said maybe people were thinking back to the hotel industry, when if you stopped watching within a few mins of ordering you wouldn't be charged. What a lame excuse.

And Rogers also said there was no way their system was hacked, cause then it wouldn't just be adult movies being misbilled.

Perhaps a little Karma happening ????

Bottom line: ALL software systems has bugs, except maybe those used in aircraft and other systems which require 0 defects. If one comma in a computer program caused a space shuttle to explode (it really happened), what makes Rogers so sure that their software is perfect?

I think they picked adult movies to start ripping people off with cause they might be too embarassed to complain.

Corporate greed hits another low.

SN: which shuttle was this? One exploded on takeoff due to a leak in the solid booster rocket and the other one exploded due to damage caused by faulty heat shielding

I think he means the one early prototype that they were testing.
It never had any astronauts on board

A possibility could be the people in question may have had their boxes cloned and possibly their maybe 100's of Black Boxes with their id's in it. But I am sure its just Rogers screwing up yet again. Not sure if the new units can be hacked, I gave up on Cable when they switched from the old Zenith boxes.

IMHO

Most likely the people complaining had been using one those fake "digital cable filters". All they do is filter out the messages back to the cable company, while letting the programming through. Once it's on, the set top box can't download info to Rogers when you buy a movie.

The problem is that if Rogers doesn't hear from the set top box periodically, they'll call you and ask if something is wrong. People then take the filter off, but forget that the box still remembers all the movies that they did "buy". All that info gets sent back to Rogers and a big bill shows up in the mail.

As this is happening, Roger's is offering FREE digital terminals( conditions applied as usual ) in various Condo buildings within Toronto. I can't imagine how many more folks are falling for that one... more billing clitches possibly.

That totally flies in the face of all I've personally experienced, and all I've heard about them from others

There are articles circulating through the newsgroups and forums recently about ordering many movies within seconds of each other with the desired effect to confuse the billing system or a inexperienced CSR.

I'm sure Rogers is aware of these techniques and this could be why there is reluctance on their part to have a standard refund policy.

you mean the customer would intentionally order movies within minutes of each other and then say why would they do this?

They don't work. The box still remembers what movies you ordered. After a few weeks, Rogers will call and ask if there is a problem. If the box still can't talk to them, they'll deactivate it remotely and make you bring it back into the store.
