Republics? Plural? Which ones? They did start with former Soviet republics.
Republics? Plural? Which ones? They did start with former Soviet republics.
You might want to check your facts first.Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine.
Feel free to make a counter argument that those are not former Soviet Republics. You might want to check your facts first.
That wasn't the premise and you're off the mark. Your statement is wrong though.Feel free to make a counter argument that those are not former Soviet Republics.
Then please point out how it is wrong. That wasn't the premise and you're off the mark. Your statement is wrong though.
The premise is that Russia wants to expand and Europe is in the way. The question was "why not start with former Soviet Republics, Middle East or Asia". You suggested that Russia already started with former Soviet Republics and listed Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine. Then please point out how it is wrong.
Ah.The premise is that Russia wants to expand and Europe is in the way. The question was "why not start with former Soviet Republics, Middle East or Asia". You suggested that Russia already started with former Soviet Republics and listed Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine.
1) Transnistria separated from Moldova in 1989 and declared independence from Moldova in 1999, before the fall of Soviet Union and asked Russia for protection. It's status has been in limbo ever since.
2) Abhazia and Ossetia separated from Georgia after the fall of the Soviet Union.
Georgia, supported by US and NATO, started a conflict in 2008 by attacking Ossetia and was quickly put in it's place by Russia. All those countries are still independent to this day.
3) Ukraine would be the only exception, but it wasn't invaded for the purpose of expansion and everybody knows this.
History is a bitch. It doesn't care about your feelings.Ah.
You seem to honestly believe this.
Well.
That's unfortunate.
History is quite the discipline, constantly being interpreted and re-interpreted in different contexts.History is a bitch. It doesn't care about your feelings.
Russia has had an influence out of proportion to its actual power and strength by causing fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD) in the West. It makes its own house look bigger and nicer by vandalizing and destroying the houses of others. They are MASTERS, the BEST at of propaganda and bullshit bullying. But when push comes to shove, they always lose in the end. Because they are not as fundamentally strong as they want you to beleive, or as they themselves believe.Yes, that's what I've heard, but the question is HOW would it happen? Logistically, strategically, politically. And most importantly, what would Russians do with current Europe? Is it for resources or just to piss everyone off?
Russia JUST received a proposal. All we have heard so far is various factions in this fucked up gong show of an admin battling it out in public and some try and move it forward and others try to sabotage it. (Rubio and Kellogg)
That is an absurd position. Why would Russia create a proposal that allows Ukraine to have an army of 800K and to use 100B of their money for reconstruction?Russia "JUST received" a proposal they created themselves. The US just added the rebuilding grifting clauses in it.
It has ZERO chance of going anywhere. And Russia knows it. They are, as ususal, just fucking with the people who are aniive to the Russian mentality and way of doing things. They take things at face value, through the lens of western values of lawetc. Russia abides by no rules. Excpet those of ONE man. It was Stalin for a while, now Putin.
How did this piece of paper work out?
Putin's response for the last 3 years. And yet he has destroyed more of the Russian state than he has of Ukraine.Putin's Response
Ukraine should strive to reach a peace agreement with Putin in
the same spirit France gave itself up in WWII in exchange for
a ceasefire. Surely, Hitler at the time was not one to be trusted.
And yet France had the last laugh by kicking the invaders out
of their country in four years after the armistice was signed
with Germany.
A ceasefire deal struck between Putin and Trump could give
Ukraine perhaps 2 years of time to regroup and rebuild its armies.
A scenario wherein France, Germany. Poland and Finland having
brought in the most advanced military weapons and technology
from the U.S. join Ukraine in the fight to retake occupied territories
is not implausible. Trump would of course be pleased to no end
by the profits reaped by U.S. military industries from the proxy
war again.
It didn't work out well because Poland wasn't getting paid billions in
aid and weapons to fight Adolph Hitler. This time around things will
work out. Just keep up with sending money to janitor Winston Churchill
of our time to fight to the last man.
