I got a similar e-mail out of the blue, two days ago, from a Russian lady apparently named Elinor. Here it is:
Dear friend,
I found your picture on one of the websites, can we talk to each other? I might be coming to your place in few weeks.
This would be a great opportunity to meet each other.
Btw, I am a woman. I am 25. Drop me a line at
ploknmb@pochta.ru
I would be very surprised if she ever saw my face on the internet and certainly wouldn't have connected it with the address that she used to reach me! And the phrase, coming to your place, suggests a broad multi-city mass mailing.
I think it is a Russian scam...a money maker. If you are serious about following up on these....be very careful. Very careful. Scamming for money can take many forms from straight out asking for support, or loans to blackmail.
Remember the old adage. If it is too good to be true, it probably is!
