Apple can't even include a micro sd slot because they want to sap every nickel and dime out of their consumers, and the saps just keep gobbling it up.

That, article is 2010 dude. And there are apps like usb disk etc that allow traffic both ways on the ios devices. Apple isn't forcing anyone to buy their shit just saying. They don't include an FM tuner either and I'd like that. Nor are the batteries easily serviceable. my 3 1/2 cents

No expanded memory port is provided and the only option is to buy installed memory at exorbitant prices. Apple isn't forcing anyone - you can still choose between Apple expanded memory or nothing.

Samsung hasn't got a USB port either - it is hard to fit one when the rage it is to get the pads 1 micron thick. I've seen some nice Apple docking stations but can you get them with a USB slot ? For business I carry a USB stick on my key chain. I can update files from the PC, it is like having cloud but does not rely on internet access and more secure (it's always in my pocket when not used). Currently I'm using ASUS (might be much better alternatives now) with detachable keyboard. The keyboard has additional battery & USB slot. It is great for travelling.

iPads are nice but with the lack of features and exorbitant price they charge for memory I'll stick with PC laptop. Hell, even my smartphone has expandable memory up to 64GB along with USB 2.0 high speed and Micro HDMI ports.

You're right, 2010 and still no expandable memory. Lol one of the more frustrating things about my ipad mini (gift ).

Ok to clarify, not defend. I mentioned 2 apps that are around that might help the situation with "uploading" your files when drive is close to capacity. Airdisk Pro was one and another called Flash Drive, which has the usb cable file transfer option to a pc/mac. Alternatives or workarounds with current status of device

Considering the google tablet has no expandable memory either....

Android does have the freedom for some manufacturers to include it but considering google's flagship tablet is in the same place...

It was the best of both worlds at the time. I got sick of carrying the laptop so I use Office Suite Pro for my docs and enjoyed the ability of undocking the tablet to read/ watch movies in the airplane seat. If the food cart comes, it slips into the magazine sleeve without the need for any disruptive movements. I understand there are thin windows PC laptops with detachable touch sensitive screens so maybe I might make a different choice if I was to do it again.

True, but like you said, other manufacturers have the option. Btw, have you seen the Nexus 7? Mind blowing fast, just utterly destroys the iPad mini, in fact, I think it sent the mini to the Stone Age.

I think you're absolutely wrong.

I have both...the first iPad mini and the Nexus 7 (2013). Both are really great machines but neither one is substantially better than the other.

From what I've seen, the nexus has a better display, more ram, and cheaper while the mini has a better cpu and a larger screen. Personally if I was going to get a small tablet it would be the nexus but it's not that easy a decision.

I own both iPads and a android galaxy tab and I must say the android tablet is complete garbage compared to the iPad.

First off why do you need expandable memory my IPad is a 32gig unit and it's has has about half the memory still available which is not bad considering I have about 100 apps on it and about 60 to 70 albums I can play.

How is that you ask that I have so many albums available to play and it does not eat up any memory that's because all the albums are in the clouds or but your using up data well when you have 175gigs a month data plan like I have that's not an issue.

Oh but you can't run a HDMI cable to the tv untrue there are HDMI cables available to purchase and it plugs into the charging port which is also a data port. Or I can just stream what ever I want to the television via my Apple TV wireless instead of being hard wired to the television. Which is a better solution than having wires coming out of the iPad.

Now the galaxy tab is complete garbage in my opinion say you get the 16 gig tablet nine gigs of the 16 gigs is all ready taken up by the operating system so that's leaves 7 gigs free so say you put on large apps like need for speed that's two gigs taken up then then you put on a few more apps and your almost at capacity for storage what ends up happening is you will start getting insufficient storage available and the items you put on you can't open up till you free up some memory

Does that happen with the iPad not at all the iOS still works even if you have all the memory used up.

But, some clown will still insist you know nothing and are just a ignorant fanboi!

As if millions and millions of people around the world know absolutely nothing about computers and are idiots who just buy shiny toys.

We'll the galaxy tab is cheap shit.. Would be one of the last mainstream brand Android tablets I would buy. The best Android tablets are Nexus, they are great, and they don't have sd slots.

Good for you. Do you think that means because it's good for you then everyone else should therefore be satisfied also? 32 gigs isn't even close to enough for some people. Myself being one of them. I travel a bit and my tablet gets filled with videos. When I had a xoom I took full advantage of the SD exapansion slot. Now I have a nexus 10 which doesn't have a slot unfortunately, but I still hook up SD cards and thumb drives to it using an OTG cable. Absolutely invaluable.

Excellent solution. Oh shit, I just remembered, I don't have data access on a plane. Fuck, that SIM card I bought when I arrived at the airport only gives me 50MB of data. Crap, the internet connection at my hotel is slow a hell and is also blocking my server. If only I had the files on my local storage space.

At home I would agree with you, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've wanted to hook up my tablet to my TV at home. However in hotels I do it frequently.

There are wireless 2.5 inch hard drives out there that should work well with Nexus and iPads

I was going to say the same things, thanks for saving me the time.

Who's your provider and what do you pay for 175GB a month?
