If you are hung properly you die by snapping your spinal cord at the neck . This happens as soon as you hit the end of the drop. You don't die of strangulation which could take minutes and cause your tongue to bloat and the bloodvessels in yours eyes to burst etc.rgkv said:

as I recall from saftey training a 180 pound man falling 6 feet will devlop 3000 pounds of force. More then enough to snap a neck
According to the BBC, someone in the audience yelled at Saddam, his alliance with Moqtada al-Sadr (you know the person the so-called US forces said was wanted) and Saddam heckled back with the smile saying in essence "You are a coward". So even to the end, even Saddam got in the last word.
I still think Saddam should have been kept alive for the trial with the Kurds AND to be brought to justice in the Hague. Something George W. Bush Jr., obviously for war crime reasons of his own, wanted to avoid very fast when the congressional hearings start proving treason.

Millions of Shia Muslims and Kurds seem to think that it is indeed a better place. Saddam was guilty of genocide and I find it incredible that anyone defends him on any pretext.xarir said:

I saw the video and looked like Saddam (or should I say Joe Shmoe, who used to drive a taxi in NYC) did smile and say something. It was probably to the Prime Minister of Afaganistan, as he was holding up a sacrafised baby calf and drinking the blood pouring from its dead body, while holding a bottle of champaigne, yelling "you idiot.....we gave you the land...we gave you paradise on earth...access to the oil fields all you have to do was keep an eye on Isreal and Iran and you didnt want to suck George Bush's dick....foooool!!!...fooool!"
By the way, in a hanging do they usually neatly put the noose around the neck, so prim and delicately? Doesnt the noose have to be placed behind the neck, to get that snap reflex motion?
