Only in Toronto can they hold celebrations for closing a part of the transit system.
The LRT is a symbol of what happens when council waffles for decades about how & where to build transit while the existing systems rots.

That is DoFo and his crackhead brother.
Remember when the crackhead raised property taxes 0.5% just to pay for that non existent subway station?

That subway extension is way overdue. The city has grown. More subways are required.
Isn't government supposed to build transit?

Or is it because it's outside of the downtown core that you have an issue with it?

That's what happens when you have had right-wing and center-right mayors backed by a right-wing and center-right council running ruining transit planning and city finances for 12 years.

It was one of the worst transit decisions in the history of the city.

Crackhead Ford killed David Miller's fully provincially funded Transit City plan and replaced it with a one stop subway line with a $2 billion price tag and 0.5% property tax in perpetuity.
And shovels have yet to hit the ground.

Problems with transit and go back way farther than the past 12 years.
At least in recent years, the Eglinton Crosstown moved forward as well as the Pearson Express. The Ontario relief line has also been approved within recent years. So not a ton of progress and Toronto is a long way away of where it should be with transit, but progress nonetheless.
And if you're keep track, that's more progress than any left-leaning mayors/premiers have made in the past few decades.

3 stops covering 8km's. Long over due especially as the Scarborough LRT was crumbling before Ford took office. City has grown.

Fast-forward 10+ years after he unveiled the plan and this city would have a world-class subway system that would have eased congestion rather than create it
Now we have streetcars that will crumble away sooner and contribute to congestion and the city has grown by almost 1 million since then.
He was a visionary.

Rob 'n' Doug's personal Gravy Train Scarborough Non-Existent Subway Non-Extension was approved July 17, 2013.

Fast forward 10 years later and I believe the first backyard garden spade hit the ground this year.

Now, with the history of the geniuses of Doug's personal Metrolinx agency, completion is reasonably expected in another 10 years at a cost of $6billion.

Now if the right-tard idiots masquerading as responsible mayors and councilors from 2010 to 2023 had left well enough alone, the "at no cost to Toronto taxpayers Scarborough LRT line as part of Mayor Miller's Transit City plan would already be operating and actually serving the residents of Scarborough instead of the right-tard shit show where there is nothing, nothing, nothing for 20 years.

Yes, David Miller was a visionary.

Now we are left with a 10 year, $2 billion, 0.5% tax increase and still no subway.
Stupid Fords.

A city the size of Toronto doesn't need 1800's transit technology and "fast bus routes" like Miller's half-baked plan had proposed...we need subways. Look at Seoul, Madrid, London, NYC, etc.

Its about density.
Most of Toronto doesn't have the density to support subways, LRT's make way more sense, like in Paris.

You do want to support the best economic solution to the problem, don't you?
