I need to type out schoolwork and I have forgotten what program to use. Any ideas for essay and stuff.

I would suggest using microsoft office. It can be downloaded for free off many popular torrent sites. not that i condone piracy....just incase you lost your install disk of course....

Microsoft Word is the most common for my students, you can use other programs such as Corel Works or Publisher but they are not as user friendly

Rather than suggest she illegally pirate software, why not suggest OpenOffice?

It is open source freeware. Free.

But I am more interested in knowing how someone so young, that does not understand the basics of word procession has access to this site.

Try using a typewriter. No program needed.

Word if you don't have MS Word. then use a dictionary for spelling do not relie on spell check.

4. "Notepad"

Wouldn't most versions of Windows also have a "Wordpad" which is basically a stripped down version of Word? I would think Wordpad is a much better choice than Notepad for a school project?

There are two great routes to take:

First, as a student, she can buy the Student Edition of Word/Office.
Second, she can get OpenOffice for free.

She can get WordPerfect but if you're willing to pay cash then you might as well get the student edition of Word. (Same thing as the regular.) Wordpad is not really an option because of file incompatibility.
