Alright, Because the geeks demanded it I have started a new thread that is devoted to our favourite sci-fi tv shows and movies (comics and books where applicable).

Some topics to get the thread going:

If the Empire were to go against the Federation, who would win?

The classic question; who is your favourite Star Trek captain?

Who is your favourite Star Wars character?

Who is your favourite Star Trek character?

Are Tribbles edible?

As for the answer to the first question; here is someone's well thought out and researched opinion:

http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/index.html

Well that's all for now,
May the force be with you and Live long and Prosper, Geeks!!!

Data's back!!

Well at least Brent Spiner.
Will appear on three episodes of Enterprise.
He will be playing the great great grandfahter of Noonien Soong, the creator of Data.
I'm sure that will get the die hard Trekkies (at least the TNG ones) creamin in their pants!

Like it or not JAMES T. Kirk is the Captian, Spock is the science officer and Mc Coy is the doctor.

All that came after are just trying to capture the imagination of those who where born after the original went off the air.

Yes they have done a good job but that has been thanks to NURSE CHAPEL, and or NUMBER ONE (work it out).

The Empire would, they have better music.

The classic question; who is your favourite Star Trek captain?
Jean Luc...A true Leader

Who is your favourite Star Wars character?
Chewbacca, he Never said a word, but you always knew what he was thinking. A true warrior and a loyal friend.

Who is your favourite Star Trek character?
Jean Luc, he wasn't as phoney as the others. Always the best story when it involved the Captain. Do you remember when he was tortured by the Cardassians?

Are Tribbles edible?
Yes they are, best served with Rice and Jerk sauce.

Favorite Star Trek character had to be Spock. A close second is awarded to Worf, who always got great sarcastic one-liners. Michael Dorn did an outstanding job of acting through the make-up.

Currently on TV, my favorite sci-fi would have to be Stargate SG1. Honorable mention goes to Farscape for its edgyness. Andromeda is improving, but sloooooooowly and is still too full of itself.

I would have to say that Enterprise is currently my favourite Sci-fi show.
Farscape was okay but I just didn't get into it. Same with Stargate SG1.
I saw the first episode or two of Andromeda and it was bad. Saw a small segemtn of a recent episode and its appears they improved on the actual look of the show. Kevin Sorbo as a captain of a starship just does not work for me.
I remember hearing a rumour that he was going to be captain of Enterprise instead of Bakula. Relieved that the rumour turned out to be false.

As for Babylon 5, go crazy!

Ok, Ok...here i go. You cannot compare star wars and star trek because they happen on different realities. The only similarity they have is the word "star" in the names. If you are gonna compare, how bout B5 and stat trek as they are more like each other, are based on scientific theorems and earth actually exists. Star wars is pure fantasy (do not kill me, i love star wars but don't compare apples to oranges).

I like enterprise now but in the begining, it was too much like "lets be friends". Kirk was always kickin ass. The direction is a little better now, more action and less talk but they need to kill off a main character soon like they did with other characters from all the other shows.

My favourite star trek character is a tie btw kirk and sisko. Both are bold men and willing to take chances and they both have a certain on screen quality.

My fav star wars character is darth vader, cause he's just so bad.

My fav star trek character is by far, Garak. If you've seen all the episodes of DS9, you'll know why.

As for the tribbles...fuck the tribbles. The klingons had a holy crusade against the little fur balls and destroyed their planet, good riddance.

Hey incognito

Did you check out that link on my first post? Somebody has done a comparison between Star Wars and Star Trek; "Empire versus the Federation". Check it out and tell me what you think.

My favourite Captain is Janeway. I know, I know... But she possessed a style that was different from the other captains. She reminded me of a British officer from the Napoleonic era; an officer and a gentle-woman.

My favourite Star Wars character would be Jango Fett (or Boba Fett).

My favourite Star Trek character would be the Doctor from Voyager. Garak was great too!

As for Tribbles being edible, I have no idea. Barely watched the Original Series. But I'm guessing that they probably tasted like space rat or space gerbil.

Yeah, i checked out the link manji and i gotta say, someone's got WAY too much time on their hands. :D
But like i said in my previous post, ya can't compare apples and oranges. What do you think?

Didn't mind Capt. Janeway, but her voice sounded a little too nasal for my taste. Just annoys me a little thats all.

Too much time on his hands is right!
I have to agree with the apples and oranges analogy.
Though it does make an interesting read. I especially liked the way he analyzed the tactics and technology of the Federation and Empire.
Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty. I don't think Lucas spent as much time on developing his movies as this guy spent on analyzing them.

Manji,

I've checked out the link about Empire vs. Trek. Mostly pro-empire guys there so most of them think the Empire will win.

However I disagree. If the Empire invaded the Federation
1) All the major races would band together (like the Dominion War) to repel the invasion.
2) the empire is much stronger than the Dominion so basically everything in the federation arsenal would be used. There would be no holding back...ideals or other federation rules.
3) Equip all federation ships with cloaking devices
4) Approach star destroyers from the rear or bottom..their weak spots.
5) Put full use of tranporters as weapons...once the star Destroyers shields are down and star destroyers do have very weak shields...transport an anti-matter bomb into their engines, or bridge etc..BOOM no more star destroyer.
6) Thus with the help of cloaked Federation, Romulan, Klingon ships. The "Alpha Quadrant can successfully repel the Empire invasion....if the Empire couldn't defeat the Rebellion...could they really defeat the Federation and it's allies?

Go to this website. It gives a more evenly and better analysis of the Star Trek universe vs the Star Wars universe.

"The main reason I give this Versus to Star Trek is because of their rational, scientific ingenuity and alien variety. The various Star Trek races have unique strengths that make their overall force many-armed, and Star Trek races have a great knack for finding loopholes and weaknesses to exploit. With a combined tactical and technological effort, I think you've got to agree that the Star Trek races would change their strategy very quickly if they started to lose, whereas the Empire would stick to the book and fight this one like it fights all its battles: methodically, efficiently, but less creatively."

quote from the above.

gee..is it obvious..am I a trek fan or not?

Very good point indeed...I haven't thought about that!

But......The Empire was defeated due to the FORCE!

The FORCE! was with the Rebels, do not kid yourself they did not do it alone.

As far as I know, The Federation has not found or used the FORCE! ever.
