How would I (or what device do I need to) go about transferring info from my computer to an SD card? Also, recommendations for and brick & mortar store to purchase said device.

Thanks

Does anybody here know how long an image will last on a memory card? Does the image on the card eventually "disappear" over time?

Tiger Direct has them. I bought a 2 gig Transcend for about $12 or $13. For transfer, you can get a key fob device for around $10 that you can plug the SD card into and it will act as a USB flash drive. Alternatively, for $30 or $40, get a combo floppy and card reader. Of course, you need to use an internal USB port to connect it to the computer.

This begs the question. Why are you going from computer to memory card? Why not just burn to a DVD?

Offhand I'd guess it's easier/quicker to drag and drop data, files, etc onto a memory card than burning a DVD.

But a usb flash drive would be easier.

They are probably both about the same life time wise.

Didn't someone say that USB flash drives are very fragile and have extremely short lives?
That is true. They are the same technology as SD cards.

PS: I have had a 64MB for years.

Extremely short life in terms of memory storage is probably more time than the particular medium in question will become obsolete...in other words, they'll come up with a new, larger storage format before you see your pics dissapearing.

btw, I use a 16gb SD card in my EeePc, which doesn't have a DVD drive. Works like a charm.
