I have people coming over this weekend, and I was wondering if anyone could help me find a good store brand salsa.

"Pace" is my favourite. Even the "mild" is fairly spicy, with a nice fresh taste...

Herdez salsa is the best I've found - the can is much better than the glass jar. I've typically found it at Loblaws or Dominion - real Mexican!!!

Herdez is much too salty, IMHO. And whilst it doesn't address the original need, which was a salsa available in a supermarket, I would recommend Great Aunt Gerty's, which I have purchased at farmer's markets and garlic fairs. It is a bit sweet, to be honest, and not hot, with big chunks of tomato.

I don't know if the e-mail address works, or not, but I found kcnet@magma.ca . If you have no luck, just serve Pace and lots of beer.

if you are using canned, it does not much matter which one you get.

Fresh on the other hand is always better.
