a) shop elsewhere

b) buy a Mac
c) run Linux.

Been using Ubuntu for months and enjoy not having to worry about running spyware, malware, anti-virus apps anymore.
Not that hard to learn plus it's free.

I keep hearing everybody say run Linux. What about those programs (such as MS Office) that are written for windows?? Will they run under Linux?

MS Office won't run on linux.

However the entire OpenOffice.org suite came preloaded with Ubuntu.
It includes, Word Processor, Presentation, Spreadsheet and Database...all free.

Interesting.

Will it save documents in a format that can be shared with MS Office?

Ubuntu also came with a built in PDF reader, not sure if that will do what you want.

ps: Just remembered. I have a dual boot setup with XP Pro and Ubuntu.
At times I have drag and dropped files, mp3s, videos, folders, even exe files from the linux partition to the windows partition with no problem. However you can't do that from windows to linux, when running XP, as windows lists the linux partition as 'unknown' and won't let you into the linux partition from the windows side. On the other hand, when running linux you can view everything on the windows partition and drag and drop files over to the linux side.

Yes, I hear Sears has signed a deal with Apple to provide terrorism against Windows users to force them to goto Mac.

Yes it can but it must be configured on top of another emulator program. WINE make any Win Application think it's running in Windows. But the current trend now is VMWARE. Or Virtual desktop, there are many out there for both OS's.

But this is not for the faint at heart. You have to spend a several days or week learning this new curve. But of course if you find a LUG group in your area, they will help you.

LUG groups are a big help.
The default Firefox Ubuntu homepage lists several forums to go to for help if you need it.
