scubadoo, don't you think that Ray does NOTHING for the lineup?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but a really objective Sens observer might think this acquisition is - well, let's call a spade a spade - pathetic.
:(
To answer your first question. I have already stated that I think it was a good move by adding a warm body at little cost to the line up for the stretch run. Ray played with the team last year so there is no question of chemistry. To suggest that Corson would be a good player for Ottawa to pick up? Might I remind you of the flake he was and how he affected the Maple Leafs with his bull. Even his own brother-in-law was glad to see him go.

Real objective Sens observer?

How can I not take it the wrong way when you call into question my character and basically say that I am not objective?

I figured you had more class, but I guess I was wrong.

Ranger class ??? .... hehehe .... who are you kidding ??? The guy is the brain trust of the Terb Leaf fan club.

Ranger's recent posts:
Oh, man - Domi ripping Van Allen's helmet off!! ..... roflmfao !!!
I'm gonna enjoy watching Belfour chop some more Sens ankles on Thursday! BOOYEAH! rotflmfao
Is Van Allen still gonna be wearing that retard-helmet? I guess Domi's gonna have to rip it off again and shove his fingers down his throat. ....hehehe.
Cup. Didja get a load of Domi assaulting that little beeyotch Van Allen - he couldn't turtle fast enough! HAHAHAHA!

Relax, scubadoo. Nobody's calling into question your "character". I'm sure you're a fine, upstanding invidual.

I must say, in my defense, that if you think the Ray signing is a good one, I thought you had more *hockey sense* than that, but whatever ... No offense to your character. ;) ... Corson could play, at least. Ray's just a fighter. ... *I thought* you weren't just a Sens flag-waver, but I guess I was wrong.

Sorry, the Ray signing is pathetic. There's not really any point arguing this, because obviously nobody's mind is going to be changed and there's really not going to be much evidence to support either position.

Oh, and by the way scubadoo, regarding lack of class:

"Kathleen agreed that Ray was a good addition for the stretch run, she also believe's that Domi is an idiot. It is time for you other Leaf fans atleast to call a spade a spade. I respect Kathleen for doing so. "

I don't appreciate the implication that whatever you and Kathleen think is obviously correct and that other Leaf fans who don't agree are ignorant and you have no respect for them.

Yeah, the Ray signing was a great one, but Domi's just an idiot ... ? ...

Something about people living in glass houses ..... :(

Actually....it really isn't me who's hockey sense you would have to look at calling into question, it would be John Muckler. He's a fine hockey individual that has won a stanley cup as a coach. I'm sure he knows more about hockey than the two us of together.

That's a poor defense.
I could just say that EVERY NHL GM obviously has much more experience and hockey knowledge than the two of us put together, and I guess we shouldn't ever question any of their moves. ...
Uh .... yeah.
And I'm calling into question *the hockey sense* of signing a 35 year-old goon who's been out of the game for almost a year.

For what it's worth, scubadoo, I apologize for the comment regarding objectivity. It was a mistake.

I will ask, though, what *you* think Muckler was thinking. I understand the Sens needed another forward. Does this mean they're not shopping for others with more skill? Does having a player with extremely limited skill who's not likely to take a regular shift, not likely to be in game shape for a couple of weeks, and not likely to play in the playoffs ... does having that player help the team? I understand the need to combat other goons - to a *certain* degree - but can't Neil fill that role? As for toughness, I've mentioned this already - adding goons seems a paltry measure - you're just as likely to make other teams take *more* liberties in an attempt to goad them into taking unnecessary penalties and starting fights. ...

To me, the move seems very, very odd - if it were the Leafs, I'd be *seriously* questioning the value - which led to the unfortunate comment regarding objectivity.

(Oh, and pansy? You're on ignore - there really isn't any point in your continuous yapping. :) FYI.)

This will be my final take on the issue. You have asked a valid question.

From what I have heard the is another deal to be done. Ray is a stop gap measure brought in to fill a current void in the line-up while maintain team chemistry. I'd much rather have Ray playing the wing that Shane Hnidy as we had the other night. We have to hope that the duct-tape and band-aid solution will work until Vermette, Bonk, Varada and Fisher come back.

The trade in question will probably happen sooner than later and I'm still hearing that it is Bondra and Gonchar that are heading to Ottawa.

Bondra and Gonchar. ... Well, we'll see. Competition, I would think, is fierce for *both* of these players.

As for Ray over Hnidy, it's just one goon for another. If it were my team, I guess I'd rather they used some prospects to stop the bleeding - isn't the Ottawa system *stacked* with prospects? ;) - not a bad idea to give them a bit of trial by fire in the heat of a playoff run - especially since the alternative is a has-been goon.

Well, again, I guess we agree to disagree.

I won't be wishing Ray any luck.

Agree...

Rob Ray is useless
A total liability no doubt! Ray has no skill and taking the place of someone that may contribute more without the toughness. This type of player has never really factored to much in a Jack Martin system anyway. I also agree he won't see the post season so why bother getting him? If its penalties you want, so be it.

One last important side note on Ray, having been to many Sabre games and living so close to have the opportunity to do so. Ray's fighting ability and toughness is not the same as it was in early years and he's lost more fights the past few years, then he's actually won.

Ray and Domi part IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

This should be good! Always a nice fight with those two...

Corson would be much better to pick up the Ray. Or Ottawa could add Corson also. He would be a perfect fit for the lost Varada. Shane is totally healthy now. He can score, grind, ghost the other teams best player, and fight. He can be a huge differance to a playoff team. I'd worry as a leaf fan if Ottawa snached him.

My only concern about Corson is his ability to be a complete flake. I don't know if he is over his personal problems that he has had over the past few years. It certainly affected Toronto last year and he ended up leaving the team in the midst of the playoffs.

If speaking from just a hockey skills point of view, I would have taken Corson over Ray. However, Ray has played for Ottawa before and he has I think Muckler wanted to bring in someone he was comfortable in regards to chemistry. It also will free up some of the prospects in the minors to be used in a trade along with one of either Hnidy or Pothier.

Ottawa is expecting to have both Fisher and Vermette back in the next week and Varada and Volkchenkov by mid-march. Clearly the roster will to be too big and that is why I am still under the impression that some bodies are going in a trade.

Wouldn't you want to be *playing*, that is showcasing, the prospects you want to trade, rather than have them sit out (or in the minors) until they're dealt?

I think the Sens are still trying to make a deal as well, but none of this explains the Ray move to me.

Whoever wants Shayne Corson really needs to think hard about that one - although, I would've said the same thing about Rob Ray a week ago, too. ;)

Good points.

Chris Kelly has played the last 6 games.

Holdenyourboyfriend'sGroin,

Roy took undisciplined penalties and dropped the gloves at the worst times. He was a hothead. Ray is disciplined which is one of the reasons he was brought in last year - he helped mentor Neil and others. Ray is a born leader; Roy wasn't. Roy had serious issues off the ice, including an addiction.

You're seriously a jerkoff ..... hehehe.

Ranger,
Man, talk about getting flamed ..... hehehe. That happens when you don't know hockey from your arsehole ..... hehehe. You get off on Domi punching Van Allen through his half mask while he had a broken jaw ? Come off it Bud. You don't know shit.

As a favour, Cnd-Guy, would you mind not quoting the moron? You know who I mean. Some of use have him on Ignore and would rather not be subjected to his idiot neanderthal sub-human inane rantings.
Thanks. :)
Just the little I saw you quote from him was enough to make me dizzy.

Pansey,

I'm sure the Leafs and the rest of the NHL is quivering over the Sens signing of an old re-tread. BTW, maybe Melyek can get Dave Schultz and Tony Twist to lace it for them too. God already knows that those two guys have more heart than your current roster.

Also, what's up with the hehehe?? Are you trying out for the remake of Beavis and Butthead?? You don't need to role play with us....you've got the job!

Hey jerkoffs, even Don Cherry called Ray a leader with tons of experience, a smart hockey player, who can help open up the ice. He also said "THIS TEAM IS GOING TO WIN THE CUP !!!, SPEZZA IS ON FIRE, HOSSA IS UNSTOPPABLE." He called Muckler's signing of Ray a "smart move" ..... hehehe. Obviously the addition of Ray to Hnidy, Chara, Neil and Simpson and the huge loss to the Sabres tonight has hit a few raw nerves among the moccasin wearing, tasseled, hairspray in the hair, oops I dropped some wine on my tie, toffee nosed Toronto "fans" ..... ROFLMFAO !!!! Rack em up !
