I have a ? maybe you guys could help with. I had a internet site paid someone money to keep the site going upkeep that sort of stuff. Heres the problem guy goes bankrupt my web site is gone. how can I find out what server he was using to get my site back.

I don't suppose you happen to know the IP address. Was there a mailer set up? if so, check an old email you have received from your site, the IP will be in the header.

You may be able to do a "traceroute" to your site, and make note of what provider is cited last in the list. (Sometimes, though, you'll find a black hole & won't be able to determine the target provider.)

You may also find information by doing a "whois" (google for public servers if you're running Windows) of your site (or IP address). You should have the contact info changed over to yourself. Even bankrupt, your former provider should be able to facilitate the transfer; if not, you can initiate proceedings by proving proper ownership of the site.

Mcluhan is right...you received an email at some point telling you how to set up your incoming mail etc. The server address would have been listed in that email.

Call up yer ISP tech support & have them do a DNS lookup for ya ..

Your pwrsonal website would be an DNS alias so they would be able to give ya the Server IP Addr ..
