Service providers keep records?

I don't know what kind of records they keep, but I've occasionally booked an SP for what I thought was the first time (usually a girl has changed name and/or agency and/or pictures) and they've remembered me -- which impresses the heck out of me, given that I deal mostly with EE girls and that they probably see more clients than anyone else...

I keep some records, but for the other way around. I have another business and an extensive network of contacts outside this business -- I'd like to be sure of eliminating the possibility of running into someone and embarrassing them. I've had it happen before that someone three doors down from me or someone I'm working with in some sort of a committee phones -- I find it's better just to make some excuse and blow them off, than to end up with a potentially embarrassing situation (for them ... I'm not going to be embarrassed by it).

If anyone ever got into my records, they'd have no way of knowing how I knew anyone in there -- and if they tried to presume, they'd end up embarrassing themselves (and possibly slandering/libeling someone) in no time flat.

I have a pretty good memory, but as I get older, it's getting less sharp. I am finding these days that I have to talk to someone a few minutes on the phone or exchange a couple e-mails with them to know who they are -- but better safe than sorry! Even my mom calls me these days and always says, "this is Mother." And I say, "Yeah? Mother who??"

Between a rock and a hard place
Forgetting your business contacts or your gentleman clients? understandable. Forgetting your own mother? get a check up.

What kind of records do independent service providers keep of our visits?
Who cares?

Last week I contacted by email an independent SP that I'd seen about 14 months ago for a 2 hour visit. I was quite impressed by her detailed, very accurate recollections of the visit (e.g., my appearance, our conversation). Although I have not asked her directly, I wonder if her recollections reflect some notes that she had taken.
Hmmm...sounds like a review, but instead of on a public board where everyone can read it, it's in her own private journal.

I'm guessing that some keep appointment books.
D'uh! She has a business. It's called contact information.

Not sure if I'm comfortable knowing that some keep records especially if LE situation develops.
Contact your local BBB and complain.

what do you know about the likelihood of records being kept?
Sheesh. It's likely.

Is there a way to protect against such?
Don't see SPs.

I may be paranoid, but I would like to be safe.
Yes you are, so don't see SPs.

Actually, I just say that to tease her because she always says, "this is Mother." After 48 years, I know her voice.

But I'm amazed at how often guys will phone me up and just start talking away -- and I have no idea who they are! Lots of times, it will turn out to be someone I haven't seen in months or years. And if I ask, they'll say, "it's Jim!" Oh! Jim!! Sorry, that doesn't necessarily help. Between business contacts from this business and my others, from various social, recreational, family, and community contacts, I actually know a couple "Jims."

So please, guys, give us a break -- identify yourselves!

(Or don't, but admit then that you're having a little fun with us. ;) )
