Can you play drums?I am sick of software drum tracks. I start drumming lessons this sunday
come jam
I can play ... I also used to teach.

Here is the first lesson for free:

1) Know how to hold the sticks properly (Moeller technique matched grip)
2) Play on a pillow to develop strength and speed
3) Right hand then left hand ... tempo 60 to start
4) forearms, wrists and then fingers
5) get familiar with the rudiments http://www.vicfirth.com/education/rudiments.html

pitch

My teacher is the best, he could tell instantly where i was off
he said its easy to go out of key when singing words because if
the vowels aren't sung right you automatically get thrown off key
its all in the vowels he says and thats what he's going to teach me. Some words are harder to sing than others, he says I am having trouble singing "money"
I wonder why$#%?:D

The Triple Stroke roll is the one that develops endurance, especially when you accent the last note. Not for beginners ...

The Quad stroke roll, not shown, is the basis for the "Stone Killer" exercises in the Master Studies book by Joe Morello and developed by George Stone. Even guys who masterbate 24/7 get tired.

Your pitch problems are not isolated to specific words. You have to understand the relationship between the melody and chord structure of the song. If you isolate the vocal track and find the melodic shape, Then play back the inst. track you will see that they are are odds. This is a basic writing excercise. Learn to find the common notes within the chords. Base the melody on these. Or conversly build a chord pattern based on the melody. This seems difficult at first but in time it will make your songs begin to sound much better and people will respond to to the idea of the song and not react to shortcomings of the performance. Remember that any hit song that you listen to on a CD is the result of months and months of work with many people reducing and perfecting the song not for note. Keep working at it and listen to your favorite music with an analitical ear. Listen to the relationship between the vocal and inst. track. Listen to different concepts of arrangement and learn the tricks that are used. In the short term this will ruin the fun of music for you, in the long term it will give a deeper understanding of arrangement and melodic construction and give you a better appreaction of well produced music.

Sexychanel, if this is just a hobby for you, go ahead and keep doing what you're doing, whatever makes you happy.

If you're serious about making this a career or side-career, however, then blackdog gives very good advice. He knows what he's talking about.

that being said I would probibly sound alot worse.....I WOULD sound alot worse. I would stick to escorting.... you are beautiful, and I think , like strongbeau if it's a hobby great have a hobby...but if you are paying someone to "teach" you to sing like that........I'd want a refund. JM2C

Music teachers are like some prostitutes. They tell the client that they are great and pad the ego. This is an attempt to guarantee future business. Nobody can teach you music, you must learn yourself. There are no shortcuts. Just listen to music in a way that makes you understand what you are hearing. Read all you can about making music and just keep writing songs. Remember when a CD is recorded the artist and producer go through dozens of songs before the final 10 or 11 keepers are selected. The ratio of throwaways to keepers is usually about 10 to 1. That means for every 10 songs a writer writes, only one is good enough to record, and at that point it might not even make it to the album. Another thing to remember is that when you record a song and put it out for people to hear you are in direct compitition with all the recorded music that is available in the world. Your compitition is Frank Sinatra, Frank Zappa, Metalica, Stevie Wonder, Brittany Spears, Grand Master Flash, David Hasselhoff, Niel Sedaka, Wayne Newton, 50cent, Leonard Skinnard, Nat King Cole, Ludwig Von Behtoven, Toni Braxton, The Sex Pistols, The Four Tops, and it goes on and on....

I wish you luck with your singing career. Without knowing anything at all about the singing or recording business, it would appear that you are expecting fairly instant gratification. You may do well to adjust your expectations in that regard.
I would imagine that singing lessons would have to be counted in the hundreds or thousands, rather than on 1 hand.

Good advice Danmand. No disrespect meant here Chanel, but there's people out there with great voices that never make it. Do it because you love it, not because you want to be a star.

And don't forget the techno beat.

Instead of trying to fix this song, why don't you move on to a new one incorporating things that you learned from this one. A few important things to remember that all song writers learn is don't get attached to a song. You must be brutal. They are all throwaways until proven otherwise. Never change tempo mid song. Tell me one song where the tempo changes. The feel may change but the tempo never. Thats why songs are recorded to a click track. Things that sound magical in a dream always sound like shit in the light of day. These may sound like harsh rules but they are just the realities of making music. Try starting a new song. Don't worry about the drum track just worry about whats important, the melody and arrangement. I gaurantee it will be a step up from the last one, and the next one after that will be better again. 50-60 songs later you will have a song that people will ask to hear again. At that point you record it properly and then and only then you put it out there for the public to decide. Remember you are in direct compitition with every song that has ever been realeased. Your song has to be so good that people who don't know you will want to put out good money to buy it over the Beatles or Babyface or Beyonce, or Bach, Ciera or whatever.
