St. Mikes was a part of the catholic board for a while.
St. Mike's had a temporary partnership with the old MSSB and was a dual private-public school from the late '60s to the '80s, but it didn't leave the MSSB due to "government agendas that were contrary to Catholic teaching," as devout Catholic and poonchaser VIPhunter suggested upthread.

Religious issues aside, Catholic school boards run their schools much better than public school boards. Perhaps it's due to years of doing more with less, they run schools at a much lower dollar figure per student than public ones do. We'll pay for that when separate school boards are eventually done away with. We'll just have more school boards in trouble like Toronto.

Really? Can you name one?

Nothing amuses me more than seeing people declare their admiration for the Roman Catholic Church on a message board dedicated to the sex trade.

St Mikes and De La Salle, were both associated with the MSSB.

Sex and the Church? Oh come on, there are a billion or so Catholics…..They didn't come via prayer….

De la Salle left because it didn't want to destream and teach sub-Advanced level courses, not because of "government agendas that are contrary to Catholic teaching"... unless you're suggesting that the Church is opposed to educating students below Advanced level. Try again.

Ahhh, the distinctive odour of shameless hypocrisy. It's always easy to tell when a "devout" Catholic has entered the room...

Perhaps you're right regarding the reasons….Not sure never really studied it….….But you are not suggesting there is no room in the church for sinners are you?

Would I prefer to not be addicted to this hobby? You bet. Would it be better to stick all the money wasted in the poor box? or an RRSP or something else? I wish I could….and am truing too

Am I devout? You say I am. I try to live well…..but fail miserably. That's all.

Fund them all or fund none of them is what should be done, but it's too divisive a topic for politicians to touch or face the fate John Tory suffered. The system should be tweaked where the students are funded and the funding follows the student. This way if a child goes to a Jewish school or catholic school or a vocational school which we here in Ontario fail at providing, the systems get funded accordingly by student population, this would be a much more equitable way of doing things as our politicians are obviously gutless cowards.

The Church doesn't require that you be perfect. It does require that you make an honest effort... not just shrug your shoulders and say "oh well, nobody's perfect so I can do as I like as long as I confess on Sunday."

You don't have a medical condition -- you choose to fuck escorts, and clearly you will continue to do so. If you actually believed the Church was correct in its moral teachings on sexual behaviour, you would choose differently. But you don't. You hold up your Church to the rest of us as an exemplar to society as a whole, but you feel free to ignore those teachings that conflict with your own happy fun time. If you don't actually take the Church's teachings seriously, exactly how the fuck can you seriously suggest that the rest of us should pay good money to help perpetuate those teachings?

You're a terribly angry man, and it's a shame.

I do not use escorts or massage parlours….I have never 'fucked' anyone in the business….I have engaged in sexual situations that are not , in the churches (and my own view for that matter ) moral. Have you never engaged in any activity that was against your own moral code, in the light of day? If you have not, then you sir, are a saint. Or a rationalizer….If I do something it must be OK!!!

I have said no to these desires more often than not, yet sometimes I still fail to conquer the desire to mess around with pretty girls who I'm not married to.

I did NOT suggest the Church is better or worse than The Government of Ontario..I suggested that it will be around longer than the Government of Ontario.

Personally I believe that a charter school system make most sense (as one giant secular (yeah right, like the Government of Ontario does not have it's own dogma) board is just as bad as one giant religious board).

The Separate schools offer at least some form of competition to the 'public boards'…..that's all.

By the way I never suggested I had a medical condition, or anything else…and yes I freely choose to step over the line, that I know is wrong……I'm not rationalizing it at all. I would like to quit, yet my inner, shall we say, moral weakness has not let me do so yet…..I'm working on it.

My friend, take your anger somewhere else, it solves nothing. But then again, the self righteous always have ALL the answers don't they…..

And to NightOwl TO….My information regarding those two schools came from another very angry man, who I would occasionally drink with at a neighbourhood bar. He is now dead, as I understand….He was a teacher at one of the schools at one time. This was his take on the situation. I was simply planning for the future in asking him about his OPINION on Toronto's more historic schools.

If I was wrong, and it was all about de-steaming then I bow to your vast knowledge…..
