Should I get a personal trainer or not?

I'm in pretty good shape body wise and I've been lucky to be always tight and toned. However recently I have been lagging in my motivation to hit the gym. For those who work out what gets you into the gym?? Or do you work out at home? I like to dance maybe I should try zumba. I think a personal trainer would motivate or at least force me to work out. Some of my girlfriends can benefit from a trainer too. Any volunteers to help us lol? Nothing crazy just maybe 3 days a week to start.

I get around.
One thing that might help is to completely change up your exercise routine. For instance if you lift barbells and dumbbells, try using kettlebells. If running on the treadmill is boring, try rowing or a spin class.
What are you doing now?

Something that's helped me for the past year or is listening to podcasts. Find some you like and they can really make the workout time fly by.

At the beginning, you will need a personal trainer. Only problem, they tend to suck you dry financially.

What is my motivation besides the obvious ? I go to the gym with the expectation of finding a pretty fit lady to go out on a date. Sadly, I have been trying for a long time without success. I will keep going till I find her.

A few of the main gyms offer you to buy a "sample pack" for personal trainers since it is an investment. You could purchase that sample pack and see if it is right for you.

I'm saying YES hire a personal trainer ... because I am one and I think they are your best way to get motivated ... couple of reasons...

1. you have an appointment and you're less likely to flake out when someone is counting on you to be there
2. exactly what MattRoxx said .. you're body needs to be shocked. Routine sucks when it comes to fitness. You need to mix it up. A trainer will likely have you doin shit you've never tried ... you're body will react fast to that change and you will see results much faster.
3. motivation. if someone is standing there saying (my trainer screams but wtf) one more rep!!! push it !!! you can DO IT..! you will. You just will. I'm a trainer and I NEVER train myself like my trainer can.. the bastard. I hate him. :D
_ +1 having the appointment booked and someone who will not let you quit is a big plus with me.

personal trainers are only good if you lack the knowledge/motivation to do it yourself.......with the high tech equipment out there now a days all you need is an introductory lesson on how each machine works and for which muscle group...( and there is usually a diagram on the machine to explain it....after that you're just pissing away your money on a trainer.

If my''trainer'' can't hang and bang with me during my workout.....pound for pound...then he is of no use to me!

Never understood this ...I need motivation bullshit....look in the mirror...or check your cholesterol levels...blood pressure levelx.....THATS your motivation!!!

But thats just me.....

Yes, I agree with those who have pointed out that a personal trainer can help supply motivation if that is in short supply.

I've never been very motivated to spend time at the gym. But I've gone a different route than hiring a personal trainer. I prefer to get out there and do different activities. Bike riding, tennis, skiing, swimming, yoga, dancing, walking, etc. I like to mix it up, depending on the season. Its all good and keeps me in good shape. That way isn't for everyone. Some people have very structured lives and time is in short supply. A scheduled appointment with a trainer can certainly keep you on track.

Go for the trainer , they push you and have colorful routines. I've worked out for years, but I would love to have a trainer...

So my first thought is ... My gawd ... if you were my personal trainer I could hardly wait to get to the gym to work out with you . . .

. . . and I NEVER train myself like my trainer can.. the bastard. I hate him. :D
And then I remembered getting in fighting trim with a personal trainer about 8 years ago and how much I hated him.

Think I'll go hate someone else for a few months ... and I'll just check in with you from time to time, Miss Jessica, for a second opinion on whether the trainer I hate is any good.

Pretty damn sure a workout with you will be a helluvalot more fun.

Have you thought of simply riding on top more? Give a discount to clients who are willing to be ridden by you instead of them being on top. Sexercise will pay you to do the work outs. Get some gym equipment and allow clients to pay you to work out then you get to ride them. First 30 minutes you work out nude or sexy clothes next 30 minutes you ride the client. Invite your girlfriends if they want to watch or be watched. New income by offering sexcercise session at a reduced hour rate. Sign me up for a session...............

uuumm..... ya.

In other words .. Thumper agrees with me :D
never said I didnt.....

I just said I never understood the excuse of needing motivation...if you lack the drive to better yourself or dont have the fundamental knowledge to read a simple diagram of how a machine works...then go ahead....but to need someone to scream at you..ala Gillian michaels...or smooze you and hold your hand and tell you ahhhh there's a beautiful slim person inside of you...and together we'll go thru this journey blah..blah..blah....its bullshit ...IMO....the trainers mantra is do as I say....Not as I do......Yeah I was a CPT too....but it was for myself nobody else....When I worked out at the GYM.....the CPTs just stood there telling their meal ticket..ooops clients... do this do that....FUCK YOU...lead by example.
But again.....thats just me....

I say no and just find a training partner instead. Imo whenever I have a training partner to workout with I NEVER miss a workout. It works for me becuz I know that there's someone waiting for me at the gym and becuz of that I've never been late or missed a workout ( I would never let them down). Plus combine you're knowledge plus your partners and now you have twice as much exercise's to work off of.

I had a training partner for 2 years and I was in the best shape of my life and looked exactly how I envisioned myself when I first started. I was 170lbs and could incline 2plates 8 times without a spot. I packed on good solid muscle and was pretty strong for my 5 foot 7in frame.

Save your money and jus find a partner that's committed and reliable. Within 3 months you'll see amazing gains if you eat cleanish and do cardio also.

you're already into the gym for 40-60/mo. in fees...why waste another 35-70/hr for a trainer....the trick is to hook up with a partner with a similar build and level of fitness...then you can push eachother to the gains you're looking for...

I did try a spin class once and loved it! Definitely gonna try that again soon, and yes the treadmill is boring me to tears lol. I don't do much weight lifting more interested in staying tight and toned. I'm also interested in trying yoga, being a little more flexible won't hurt anything ;)

Oh nice you're a trainer. Maybe you can come and get us girls here at naughty Nuru into shape. Yes changing things up seems like an excellent idea. I get bored easily and someone yelling at me might work.
