Motivation is a big issue for lots of people...that is why there is a huge industry of motivational speakers, books, webinars etc. Be clear on your WHY! Keep visual reminders of why you are doing it around you...pictures of beaches and bathing suits, EKG print outs! whatever it takes

I like the workout buddy suggestion. A gym where you get to know people when you go at a regular time is the "healthy" equivalent of Cheers. This social network...keeps me going.
With regards to using the equipment...it is more than just looking at the pictures. I was doing that, then had a personal trainer watch me...change up my posture, my grip a bit...and wow, whole new experience on the equipment and muscle soreness afterwards. A trainer once a month or so to check out your "style" on the equipment and introduce knew exercises into your routine is really beneficial...also motivating because when there is a month or so between sessions you want to be able to show some progress!
Good luck...like sex, it should be FUN!
