Hey fellas!

My computer seems to be slow.... waits between 20-45 seconds to load pages. Already tried spysweeper and adaware. I have Norton antivirus also. No viruses. Any suggestions?

Here are a few more suggestions:

- Power cycle the Modem and the computer. Turn both off for a few minutes, turn them back on, and try browsing again.

- Try disabling any firewall and/or your antivirus for a few moments to see if they are causing slow speeds.

- Check your System Tray to make sure you don't have programs like Kazaa running.

- If it was working fine yesterday or the day before and today it is slow, there is a System Restore function in Windows XP (considering you are running XP) that lets you revert your computer settings back to any previous day. That always works for me if I encounter problems.

- If you still can't figure it out, call your ISP technical support for help. That's what they are there for.

The system tray is the small area at one end of the Task Bar (the bar that contains the Start Button) near the clock.

The best suggestion is calling your ISP technical support. It is free with many ISP's like Bell and Rogers's. There are a number of other things that can be done like re-installing TCP/IP, checking the ping rates etc.

press ctrl+alt+delete to bring up your system try and from there you can shut down processes/applications you arent using. some you will always need running ex firewall, antivirus, etc

This would apply if his Internet connection was giving him difficulties - or more specifically, search engines.
This shouldn't be affecting his PC - unless he's infected, in which case "don't do anything" is bad advice.
