We see a lot of snapping turtles out these days. While they are generally very passive in the water, they become a little aggressive outside. They only come out of the water for mating. They might end up in places they shouldn't go and this is when human can interfere and help.

I found this video on Facebook on how to manipulate them. Those creatures are so precious, but they can easily snap on your dogs or your kids.

Fun fact: They are omnivorous.

Saw this big one next to my place the other day.

I told this story to Josephine during our last encounter-- When I was a child our family dog found a small snapping turtle. It latched onto his nose and he came howling back into the yard with the turtle hanging on his face. I remember it being quite the ordeal to get the turtle off. If you have curious pets or children, and there are snapping turtles around, you might want to keep an extra eye on them.

Both the dog and the turtle were fine in the end.

They can certainly do quite a bit of damage. You got lucky. I'm surprised at how feisty they are on the video! Cute tho.

That dog got porcupine quills twice, sprayed by a skunk every other year, stealth inseminated a neighbour's dog, and a bunch of other things. While we did get lucky on that (the turtle was small), this incident was more funny than anything.

Now I'm very invested lol please do tell
Lol. Well basically one day I was walking my local trails and came across a snapping turtle roughly the size of a recycling bin. This guy was huge and from a distance it just looked like a big rock. Once I got close and realized what it was I had to get a picture. This was back in the early 2000's when most phones were flip phones and pic quality and zoom weren't very good. I got down real low so I was face to face with him. I was trying to fiddle with the zoom to get a good pic when suddenly my flip phone snapped shut. I was quite fucking puzzled. It was at this point that I was enlightened to the fact that these guys necks are like over a foot long when extended. I was fucking mortified but also thankful to be walking away with all my fingers. Enjoy snapping turtles. From a distance. :ROFLMAO:

If dogs wrote country /western songs, this dog's song would be #1 on the charts

I mistook the title for advice on how to handle the women I see when they get annoyed with me. :oops:

I'm not sure the advice is the same.

He had a good life for a mostly untrained, outdoor, bush dog (in a very small town). He was a less than pure bred border collie. Yes, our subsequent dogs got fixed. :)

He was born under our kitchen sink when I was a small child. His mom was also a good dog.

The next dog had very modern sensibilities. He'd trade his food for humping (despite being fixed), and it didn't matter if the dog eating his food was a boy or a girl. ;)

There were a couple more dogs after that...

Boarder collie are nut case but jeez do I like these dogs. Smart, feisty working dogs. I could watch them herd all day. I would never get frenchies if I had to do it all over again. (I love them to death tho)

Jeezus you're writing his song! Lol

"I was born under a kitchen sink,
Where roaches go to hide;
I was raised in the bounding bush,
Got skunk sprayed till the day I died..

My momma was a good dog,
But she don't know the truth;
Her boy was out knocking up neighbors,
And tellin' tales of misspent youth..."

Lol

Oh, your doggos are pretty great too. :)

That dog, and his mother, were great dogs for two half feral young boys. (When I wasn't sealed away with my second hand Commodore 64 or NES.)

I remember taking a couple of them from the cottage to to our backyard pond in Toronto.
They went missing. Poor things, I did a lot of things as a kid I would not do now.
