Atr they native to Ontario? Or are they feral ?if they're Feral we need to club them when we find them.
Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia and Ontario. The are presently on the listed as Special Concern under both the Ontario Endangered Species Act, 2007 and the federal Species at Risk Act.

You would be a fucking dummy to club them.

Oh yeah if they're native to our place heck no, I thought snapping turtles are exotic pets from somewhere like Brazil or something.

I don't like feral species that take over a local ecosystem how much ever special they are in their native ecosystem that is.

Today I learned.

Sadly he killed a baby loon 2 summers ago
Mama loon cried for 2 days
Oh noooo! It's sad when things like that happens. When I see similar situation, I try to remember that it's how nature works and I wipe my tears.

The only animals that hunts for pleasure and actually hurt our ecosystem are domestic cat and human. They should be kept inside and neutered.

If they are in your yard and you have small children, I think it's legitimate to move it a bit.
Or curious pets. Or if they're on an 80-90 KM/hr highway with heavy vehicles. I've seen my share of people moving them off rural highways-- It's better for the turtles and better for drivers. (IMO)

Otherwise, yeah, leave them be.

Keep humans inside and neutered?

The feral cats did untold damage to Australian native wildlife. So much so in Oz they had military details go out at night w .22 rifles, shine the torch into the trees where the cats spent their nights, and aim between each set of two reflecting eyes and just shoot them out of the trees until no more reflections seen,

We see a lot of snapping turtles out these days. While they are generally very passive in the water, they become a little aggressive outside. They only come out of the water for mating. They might end up in places they shouldn't go and this is when human can interfere and help.

I found this video on Facebook on how to manipulate them. Those creatures are so precious, but they can easily snap on your dogs or your kids.

Fun fact: They are omnivorous.

Saw this big one next to my place the other day.

Here Josephine, a story that you will no like reading, but it's an interesting one nevertheless, where in some countries in latin America and I'm sure Asia and others are using turtle eggs as aphrodisiac for erectile dysfunction. Don't be getting any ideas fellas. 😁

There are lots of turtles living and nesting in and around High Park.

There are signs up and I see volunteers walking around looking for nests

One morning a few weeks ago I took a picture of a turtle laying eggs and called the number

The volunteers had seen the nest but they did not know what kind of turtle had laid them. I sent the picture and they sorted it all out

They put protection around the nests to keep fox, racoons, coyotes, etc., from eating the eggs or babies when they are born
