How is that? You are constantly trying to put words in my mouth. Is it alright when you do it?

But, let's get real for a second. I think we can both agree that these types of drugs are horrible. They ruin lives. They lead to crime, because a junkie needs a fix. There are thousands of people who OD every year.

I think where we veer from each other is what can or should be done.

Your solution is more enforcement and jail. Basically, continue what has not been working for 45 - 50 years (or more). If I'm wrong about this, please give me the details on what you truly believe.

As for me, I feel like continuing with the status quo has done nothing to prevent the use of drugs, and only fills prisons with people who don't get treatment. What are the alternatives? To be honest, I'm not sure. Safe injection sites have a track record of ensuring people don't OD while also giving clean needles to prevent the spread of AIDS. And, because the person shoots up there....they don't leave needles in playgrounds or skate parks. See the benefit now?

Now, is that the best solution? Fuck no. I don't really know what is. Maybe we improve addiction treatment, making the easier to access. Under the constitution, we cannot force anyone into treatment, so they need to want to be clean. All I know is that we spend billions on enforcement and prison, with pretty meh results. Sure, we hear about big busts here and there, but it is probably just a trickle of what is truly coming into the country.

Kids in playgrounds should never be exposed to diseases like AIDS or hepatitis

this has not been a common occurrence for the last 45 - 50 years (or more)
loonie left experimental gone bad !!

and if takes locking up the junkies for possession of hard drugs , so be it
