While we may have thought calling 911 to complain about Amber Alerts was bad, a woman in the Region of Peel just sadly proved otherwise.

Peel Regional Police released an audio of a call that came through to a 911 dispatcher recently, asking for police to give her an emergency ride to Union Station because she was running late.

“Just in terms of an officer – I am supposed to have a trip to Union Station,” the woman told the 911 dispatcher. “The ride that was supposed to show for me this morning did not. I don’t know how you guys work with services in terms of that.”

The caller continues to say that she had got a cab but will be late.

“What would you like an officer to do,” the 911 dispatcher asked.

“Do you guys offer emergency ride services or not?” said the caller, adding they she doesn’t know “how you guys operate.”

“Well, I can assure you we don’t do that,” said the dispatcher.

Peel Police did not say whether or not the woman has been charged for her call.

Last month, a 70-year-old man was charged after calling 911 to complain about an Amber Alert.

Police said the male was angry about receiving the Amber Alert on his phone since he was trying to rest.

He allegedly told police he would continue to call in response to the ongoing alert.

Hamilton Police investigated and identified the male as Douglas Bagshaw from Hamilton, and he was arrested and charged with Mischief.

to know this lady who every once in a while would sleep in
late and missed the morning bus to school. She would
look around for people on the way to the parking lot
nearby to beg for a lift. One morning she missed the
bus by a second. Out of desperation she rushed
to the middle of the lane in front of a police car happened
to be behind the bus signalling it to stop with
arms stretched to both sides. I don't remember
if she was given a hard time by the police but I don't
think she managed to charm the officer to take her
to the campus.

When I read jackal's use of the word "beaut" I thought it was amazing because my father used to use that expression all the time. I don't use it and neither do my siblings, but my dad did.

It's a truncation of the word beautiful.

Sometimes if you told my dad a story that was just incredible he would say, "that's just beautiful.". For example one time I told him a story about running into a friend of mine from high school about 15 years after high school who had told me that although he had a job, he " didn't want to work any more than he had to" (no joke). My father upon hearing this incredulous story burst out laughing and retorted, "that's just beautiful."

By extension people in those stories he would refer to as a "beaut" . Even right to their faces. He would say, "you're a real beaut aren't you" .

Beauts are people that you find real hard to relate to or believe that they are for real. Typically selfish, self centred, entitled dicks.

But it made me chuckle a bit when I read jackal's post using the word beaut.

It doesn't hurt to ask. If she was a hottie (cannot tell by the voice), but certainly a damsel in distress than off duty LE, ambulance, Uber etc might have obliged pro bono. Her request appears to be assinine on the surface. It appears that the dispatcher's final words were redacted for whatever reasons.

Yes, it's wrong, but listening to the caller it doesn't sound like a person being malicious. Rather it mostly sounds like someone suffering from a mental illness, that doesn't go out on their own often, or is unfamiliar with the outside world. The caller is very polite and apologized to the dispatcher for making the mistake.

This person was female.
