Imo jets are something Canada can live without...and we've had for such a long time...IMo the juice is not worth the squeeze for Russia to pursue Canada we r3ally just have to focus on economy than the thought of an invasion...
I agree with you to some degree. But that was then, when Russia was busy filling the pockets of their oligarchs and Putin was content with building opulent fortress mansions and sowing fear, uncertainty and doubt through propaganda. Now, he is using explosives and says he's only getting started.

I think we could manage the next 15 years with an order of 50 Gripens. And plenty of those Swedish Reaper AWACS on patrol.

And I think that developing our own military industries (like the deHavilland line of aircraft) with an eye to export marketability of equipment and services would be a benefit to our economy, reputation and global influence.

Jesus Christ Almighty.... check out this vide. After the vids of the Uke drone attack are done, there is a tour of the very impressive Russian Shahed drone MEGA factory in Tatarstan where Russia has built an unfuckingbeleivable production facility. FULL of brand new modern CNC machines, aluminium foundries and hammer forges to make 4 cylinder 2-stroke engines, carbon fiber(?) or other fibre composite monocoque airframes, guidance and autopilot systems... everything. They are trying to make 500-1000 of these a DAY!!!!

The wars of the future are going to be largely fought by drones. Not Soviet-era turboprop Bear heavy bombers, not even so much fighter jets.

The US' failure to provide quick and rapid supply of weapons to Ukraine has resulted in an unreal adaptation and innovation by Ukraine, followed and now likely surpassed by Russia of drone warfare. And the US is going to be left in the dust. Ukraine produces effective, very low cost (like hundreds or max, tens of thousands, of dollars. While the US military industrial complex charges the same for a hammer or toilet seat. I recall these small pocket drones the US was selling were like $150,000 EACH!

The US has, like Russia, fucked itself. Their military and military industrial complex as we know it is goign to be in trouble. Aside from many countries boycotting US goods, and especially military hardware because of Trump's tarrifs, the US has shown itself to not be trustworthy. And Trump has demonstrated that there really is no guardrails, no checks and balances by the Legislative or Judicial branches of government.

Ukraine is fucked but they are not going to back down and live under the heel of a Soviet boot. So there will be more advances in high yield, low cost war military equipment, making the whole world more dangerous.

Russian superiority complex/ insecurity and imperialism is the root cause of the war. But the US, especially Biden, is responsible for this massive shift in warfare. This rapid development in low cost, long and short range drone warfare is going to give any small terrorist groups cheap, safe and powerful abilities to make deep, powerful hits on their enemies. I'm not going to be surprised when some psycho in the US is going to use a drone or drones in some sort of domestic terrorism action. AR15's and school shootings are going to be so passe.

The world has changed and become so much more dangerous in the past 3, but especially 2 years.

Canada should definitely cancel the F35 and cancel joining the trump golden dome disaster show.
Spain actually has aircraft carriers that use Harrier VTOL jets. The F-35 C is the only VTOL fighter available to replace it. I wonder if they will just rebuild the Harriers of turn the ships into Drone/Helo carriers
