I second to that.Moraff said:Why are you confused? If you were speeding - pay it. If you weren't - decide if the cost to prove your innocence is worth the fight.
I used OTT legal service before. they are @ Markham Rd./401inked said:Xcopper went bankrupt recently
i'd be looking elsewhere...
What speed were you going? The 2pts sounds like what a Quebec driver would get on their licence, since there are no speed-related offences in Ontario that get 2 points. You either get 0 points for 15 or less over the posted limit, or it jumps to 3 for 16 to 29 over.whynot888 said:I got a speeding ticket on the weekend in Quebec...It's a $125 fine and 2pts loss...what should i do? pay it? go to quebec and fight it?

Unfortunately, it's a little more complicated than that.Razon said:You can fight the ticket and win for the cop not speaking english to you. They have to make sure you understand your rights and why you got pulled over. You need to say he refused to speak english, and you did not understand why you got pulled over.
tbevel said:I got one in Quebec last year for doing 120...$169 and 3 points; Hwy. 20 though Quebec City. I still haven't paid it because the cop was a rude fucking prick, absolutely refused to speak English to me and gave me the ticket in French even though I requested it in English. He was pissed that I could not speak to HIM in French. There were three other cruisers there and they had four cars pulled over...ALL Ontario plates! I called them multiple times to request a copy of the ticket in English and JUST received it in July....fuck em', I'll pay it before I drive into Quebec again....if I bother.
I am so sick of these assholes in Quebec. I feel like I'm in another country when I'm there. They have there on rules, while the rest of Canada has to kiss there ass. When are we ever going to get a PM with balls tell those fuckers if you don't like it see yah F off.landscaper said:if you fight it get local help. The Quebec court system does not usually recognize english, if you are not fluently bilingual you could get yourself in a heap of trouble.
If you don't pay the fine next time your in Quebec they will either tow or boot your car if they find it.
Nonsense. Have you ever been inside a Quebec courtroom?landscaper said:if you fight it get local help. The Quebec court system does not usually recognize english, if you are not fluently bilingual you could get yourself in a heap of trouble.

Under the Charter Rights you have the right to a trial in your official Language. if not I'll ask for an ajournment and they can reschedule an date. I'll milk it forever.
If I loss I tell the court they got the last pennie from me, I'll drive out of my way and go through the US. I know they won't care I'll have my say.
That province is the biggest waste of tax payers money for years. The East Coast is almost self sufficient like Nfld. Ontario is the have not province what a laugh. The money we poor into that shit hole to keep them happy makes me sick. Then they get all the government jobs because you have to be bilingual. What a crock of shit.
as a matter of fact I have , since Levesque used not withstanding they do not have to provide anything in english. You win when you appeal to the supream court of canada but that is a long road and ususally not worth the timejohnhenrygalt said:Nonsense. Have you ever been inside a Quebec courtroom?
Evidently you haven't, because you haven't a fucking clue what you're talking about. The courts in Quebec are bilingual. It's in the Constitution. The notwithstanding clause can only affect ordinary legislation, not the constitution. You're an idiot.landscaper said:as a matter of fact I have , since Levesque used not withstanding they do not have to provide anything in english. When was the last time you were in a court in rural Quebec? (not counting Montreal)? Ask for English and they will laugh at you.johnhenrygalt said:Evidently you haven't, because you haven't a fucking clue what you're talking about. The courts in Quebec are bilingual.
