I would rather be pleasantly surprised at the door after viewing average pics on the site over being pissed off to find out the SP's pictures have been "professionally" airbrushed and altered.

Exactly what I was trying to convey. I rather have a guy more pleased to think I was better looking in person than tell me my pics were better.
This sounds like naivete couched in a defensive fetal position.
One, who's talking about airbrushing and altering?
A professional photograph needn't require either.
And two, a business has to attract a customer before they can even be in the position of pissing-off that customer.
If an SP has an attractive photograph, then she will presumably attract more customers.
If the photograph is honest and the service is good, then a customer may very well become a repeat customer and possibly a regular client, and will share positive reviews about the service & experience to friends and at places like terb. This is surely a huge benefit to the SP, who will likely attract more customers and may even be in the enviable position to raise rates.
OTOH, if a SP markets herself with dishonest airbrushed glamour photos and/or provides lousy service, they will be quickly exposed. The client will say, never again, and might even post negative cautionary reviews at terb with a heads-up calling bullshit on the flim-flammery and bamboozlement.
That's a win-win for the SP and the client.
Whereas, unattractive photos don't do anything for either party. If a professional SP or agency markets themselves poorly, then customers won't request their services. It's very simple: Bad advertising is generally bad for business in all professional endeavours.
