There seems to be an uptick in the prevalence of STD's nationally so I thought I would just post a reminder to everyone to keep safe and get tested regularly.

Options:

- your own family doctor can order teting for you at no cost
- Hassle Free Clinic at Yonge and Gerrard provides prompt testing and counseling also free
- Walk in clinic doctor can refer you for free testing
- teletest.ca is a new service in Ontario where you can book online for STD testing at a local lab. Nominal admin charge depending on type of test. Results emailed to you.

It would be great if there were more Hassle Free Clinics, like in the suburbs, too.

I tried 3 months ago and because I did not have any symptoms and was not a drug user, I was denied and told to try again in 3 weeks. The resources had been redeployed to Covid related activities. Now this was not in Toronto, but in the Niagara Region. Guess I should have lied and said I was an intravenous drug user.

Also, I don't have a family doctor since I left Toronto. Clinic near me is by appointment only and you must call and be questioned first. No walk-ins. Now with cases rising, I'm sure there are less resources, since they're busy dealing with the anti-vaxxers.

I did the teletest ca last week and it was easy and fast.. Paid 30$ went to the lab the next day(teletest.ca faxes over the paperwork and you can print it off too) and had my results back in two days. 👍👍👍

Rexdale community health center Kipling and Taber is a hassle-free completely anonymous facility. Also Keel and Dufferin.

One more option if you'd like HIV testing you can do at home is Insti (https://www.insti.com/hiv-self-test/).
They're approved by Health Canada and are pretty painless (~$60 for 2 tests, 1-drop of blood, mix a couple fluids, < 5 minutes).
I order to the Penguin Pickup (~$10 for an account) near my work to keep is discreet, but the packaging also doesn't have any labels on it.
Also, I think The Village Pharmacy has them as well, but they're a little more there.

You should still go every few months to get your screen done for clap, gonorrhea, and syphilis (I like teletest.ca for that), but this is a pretty good stop-gap in-between.
Stay safe!
