Who the hell is this Steve Simmons hockey expert??? TSN sure has miles to go to even come close to hockey night in Canada. Here I am enjoying a good Leaf game on TSN and out of the blue comes this dribble from the commentators during the intermission. I think if this Steve turkey said anything positive his lips would fall off.
While I don't particularly like Bob McKenzie, at least he has years of Hockey News experience to back him up. Where did this other "er" expert earn his stripes.
I will say one thing for TSN hockey. This Jennifer (?last name) is hotter looking than anything CBC can dish up.

Just my opinion.

Steve Simmons was the back page sports columnist for the Toronto Sun for a while. Before that, I seem to recall him being with The Hockey News as well, based out of Calgary. Basically, he went in much more of the general sports columnist route, as opposed to Bob McKenzie's single-minded focus on hockey.

My mother always told me, if you don't have something good to say, don't say it.

Thats my opinion of Steve Simmons.

Thats the bottom line.

Who hates Pat Quinn and Leafs management. I don't know who's a bigger blow-hard Simmons or Al Strachan. Somehwere along the line they just decided that it didn't matter if we cared what they write, they're going to do it anyways.

That's a columnist's job -- to deliver an opinion. Readers don't have to agree or disagree -- just read. When readership is down, that's when papers make changes.

Nothing tickles a columnist more than having someone say: "Oooo, I hate that %&#@ !! I gotta find out who he's picking on today."

Having said that, I think the best columnists are the fair ones -- the ones who will deliver both praise and darts, and offer solutions with the criticism. Personally, I believe Strachan does this more often (at least in print) than Simmons.

Just my opinion. :)

i enjoy reading his column on the back page of the sunday sun sports section. don't always agree with what he says, but at least he has conviction. bill lankhof is another sun writer who is always getting slagged for what he says, usually by people who hate his column but read it anyway.

objective criticism is always welcome in my book. too many people over-react when something they like or are involved with is criticized. rabid leaf fans are a prime example.

Bingo! There are certain subjects that neither of them can write anything positive about...the Leafs being one of them. I haven't read his column today (I pretty much never read it) but based on his comments last night, he can find something negative in the middle of a six game winning streak.

I didn't hear his comments last night Doc, but I don't know how anyone can rip the on-ice play of late. Six straight wins, and quality ones at that. I think the Leafs are playing inspired, superb hockey right now.

And I'm a guy who always cheers for "VISITORS" at the ACC... :)

I think the Dutchman is just getting it touch with his inner woman. The guy has to know by now that other guys in the media are burning his ass about it...............but he still continues to put it on. I love it!!!!!!!!! Don't change a thing Dutchie. I especially love it when he wears the Sens sweater. It brings out the magic in his eyes.

PS- did you see that Simmons interview when he claimed that the Leafs had a team meeting after he wrote that piece of dung stating that the boys didn't like playing for Quinn? In other words it was his article that inspired the current win streak. Let's win one for the Simmer!

Craven.

That's what really pissed me off when I saw him on Wednesday night. He actually tried to take credit for the turn around and basicall said that Quinn is irrelevant in the whole mix because the players can turn it on and off as they see fit. If that is the case then the skid is entirely the players fault and Quinn has done nothing wrong.

Quinn's always been known as a pretty loose guy when it comes to the team's routine. He gives his vets a lot of slack to play with. Unfortunately he sometimes gives the players enough rope to hang themselves with.
