Been listening to the Fan since their switch to sports from shitty music in the last century on AM1430. Without any doubt, the worst on air personalities are (or were) Rumack & Mike Hogan. Horrible IMHO. Norm, who cares about Syracuse, particularly in Toronto? Those two belong on Rogers Cable 10 & the fact that they had jobs at all in this industry shows that The Fan is an equal opportunity employer - they'll hire anybody.

(Don't get me started on that blowhard McCown. But I guess his asshole know-it-all-talking-down-from-above style is popular with many of you.)

I agree with you on Mccown. But I think Hogan is actually one of the few guys on that station that actually watches games. There is no one on that station that can talk football like Hogan can. There is no point of me calling Landry/Stellick or Rumack/Lajoie to talk football b/c those guys dont know anything. Hogan does though. I admit I dont like HOgans time slot and I dont like his show format , and his voice isnt the greatest either but I think hes one of the more knowledgeable guys on the station. Its so easy to tell that he is actually a sports fan unlike most of the posers on that station.

I wonder if people in the public eye like Rumack file for unemployment insurance. I suspect not, but who knows when he'll get another gig in this economic climate.

Here's how I imagine the conservation will go between him and the Service Canada rep: "Hi I'm Norm Rumack. You may know me as the Latenight Vampire. I would like to apply for UI......Ummm......Please and thank you".

I have to agree with some of the posts here. NR made me laugh when he would have to answer some of the brain dead callers calling in and not making any logical sense about sports issues, players, trades, etc. I would be laughing my ass off at his replies.

I also have to extend a huge thank you to NR. I met him at WAGG years ago. I first started going their on the nights he was promoting the club. Eventually, I was able to have a breif conversation with him when he came down the DJ booth. I actuallly didnt ask him about sports, I asked him about which girl does he recommend....he looked around aimsely and pointed to a oriental vixxxxxxen who showed me how flexible she was in the VIP.

Thanks Norm.

I listened to Norm's replacement Zack Cooper on the Fan 590 last night. He's not that bad. I certainly prefer ZC over ET.

Norm, one of us?

Just reading the posts on SNR and they seem mostly positive. Could it be because Norm was a regular promoter of "Treasures" (I think) and probably a long-time card carrying Terbite? (I have no proof of this other than his support and love of the SC industry)

I love hearing Sexiero maybe its because I am biased and he is a big soccer fan like myself.
For this reason alone Sexiero should have been the one to go along with anyone else who refers to hockey, baseball or football scores with "nil" when a team has not scored or uses any soccer term for a non-soccer sport.

There are several other Fan hosts I would have let go before Norman.
I hate Hogan, always did. He sounds like his head is in a toilet bowl.(have to admit he does know his football)

The afternoon guy, usually on with MacLean, that accent wore on my nerves. I like MacLean but do not listen because of the other guy.

Lajoie, a face for radio. What is with the voice ? Can he go five minutes without hitting that high note tone ?

DiGiulio drove me away from the Fan for awhile when her son was born. John Franco did this today. John Franco did that today. John Franco barfed today.

Rumack had his drawbacks, but he seemed to care about the Toronto teams. Sabres/Capitals fan and Tampa fan ... to me he was trying to send the Toronto teams a message. Smarten up or start losing your fan base.

Too bad they could not have held onto Dan Shulman.

I could listen to Shulman call a parking meter. The best baseball announcer period!

No question. And that's serious considering there are some really good baseball announcers out there - Jon Miller/Joe Morgan ESPN and Vin Scully (Dodgers) come to mind immediately. I also like Buck Martinez too..much better than he was as a manager.
