They are different from stun guns, so what law do they fall under???

No they are illegal in Canada and in most States.

Tasers are illegal in canada along with pepper spray and anything else that the cop thinks might be a weapon.

pepper spray is illegal now????

I think pepper spray is legal so long as it used as bearspray for hunters.
But its illegal for person to person use unless your a cop.
I think thats right - not 100% sure though

You can be charged with using a dangerous weapon using anything, whether it's a baseball bat, knife or nail file.
It's a good idea for anyone in a potentially dangerous industry to have something or someone at hand but it could backfire on you.

A LE friend of mine told me to keep the Club in the Car even if I don't use it on the steering wheel. Make a great weapon for self defence.

I did have a taser that I bought in Arizona and brought back. Wanted to Zap my gf's cat (hat the stupid thing) never did. Was fun to zap slow moving mosquitos. Sold it awhile ago. At the time 1990 they were around $45 it was pretty large like the cell phones of the era now I've seen them quite small.

Why do you need one?
