The late 30s?!!!??? Big Deal if you start at 18 do 3 or 4 yrs undergrad then 4 years med school then 3 years internship you could be a full doctor by 25 at the earliest. :D

She'd say waiting tables is easier..... think about it she's choosing to do it over her summer vacation (not to mention instead of summer school).

Overall people who come from other professions first are usually surprised by the amount of paperwork that you don't necessarily think about or the stuff that you take home.

But you'd be surprised a lot of the people who get into the profession do it for the right reasons and offer a lot of time after school to offer sports. It takes a lot of people to run say boys/girls/coed junior and senoir soccer, basketball, volleyball, track/cross country, baseball.... at some schools hockey and football etc. Of course there are also the arts and academic extracurricular activities on top of that. But eventually as some become older they start to have to take a step back for their families, health or just plain burnt out.

frankcastle you cant use logic like that what you said above with some of this crowd, they are convinced that teachers drive up to the school at 9 and leave immediately 3:30, get two months off for the summer and other holidays to go along with their huge salaries and amazing bonuses hehehe

Ouch. LOL. Please note I posted that first thing in the morning on an empty stomach (fasting for a blood test). But hey 29 just helps to prove that it's not that far from mid thirties. I think I'm getting dumber with age as Grampa Simpson said "he used to be smart as a monkey now he's dumb as a chimp."

Scouser, you know I used to really get into those anti teacher arguments but I'm not really into it anymore. I'm trying to keep the posts short.

Ultimately I find it pointless to argue against a flawed argument (i.e. had a few bad teacher experiences so all teachers must be bad).

Harris was able to turn people on the Teachers because the TEACHERS UNIONS walked RIGHT into it. The arrogance and constant pressure they put on every board in this province was not unnoticed. The fact is that the Teaching Unions are the most powerful and obnoxious ones going in this province, and Harris couldn't create a villian if they had a good image with the public. Teaching is tough, but don't give me this fiction that it is the toughest job in the world, because there are a lot of tough jobs out there, and while I don't think they work 6 hour days, I work 10 plus hour days and will be away 5 days at a time. My job wont reward me the way they are rewarded. It is a tough job, but the benefits are great, and the pension beats any, so if you cant do the job for that, then get out.

I am tired of hearing you guys defend these teachers like they are saints. They are important, but no less so than Nurses, or Doctors, or Fireman or any other tough occupation that serves the public. What is more, they often say how long their hours are, but no one can escape the number of ex teachers who do real estate on the side or other small businesses, and most of them, if not all were able to do it on that two month hiatus when they claim they are upgrading. Lets face it, if I worked 10 months a year, even if I had to go to school for the other 2, it would still beat the hell out of working it.....

Harris also went after nurses. Don't try to tell me he didn't I heard ever detail as it happened from my sister who is a nurse. He thought they made too much money. He started after doctors, but turned out many of them played golf in the same golf clubs Harris infected. Then again he had a minister who was quoted as saying the working class in Ontario lived too high on the hog. Then there was that horrible Diane Cunningham who believed Ontario would be better off being a country all of it's own.

Harris was about hatred and punishing anyone that happened to be in the way of his agenda. He did not want to improve education he wanted to create a crisis so people would support his privatization effort. Now Tory shows the true colours of the Tories.

The school Unions were attacked first, and they were the only ones with the balls to stand up to the Tory Bullies.

Instead of hating teachers for what they have, and wanting to see them cut down to size, why not ask the questions, Why can't I have what they have? How do I go about getting that?

Our parents worked hard to try to get us a better life and create a better world. We should be doing the same for our children, and stop cutting those down who are achieving that.

Just remember Harris made more money that teachers, took more holidays than the teachers got, now he makes millions on boards of companies who owe him one from his days in charge of our tax money. MPPs and MPs also have better pensions than teachers. Just think all these nasty things he said about teachers being spoiled, when he got better makes him just about the biggest hypocrite in the history of the world.

Maybe I'll run. I'm a fair person.

Just like Mike, you will always have my vote.

According to the recent polls, we're looking at a Liberal minority. The last time that happened we were left with a quasi socialist government. We can't let that happen again.

We need someone like you who can ignite excitement in the masses. Tory isn't going to cut it, I'm afraid.

Only people Dalton seems to excite is the Conservatives. Most of the rest of us he just kind of bores. He offers nothing really new.

I wonder if Mikey even knows what he is doing. He never did while he held office.
