I am now pointing towards this one
Sony KDL48R550C - 48" 1080p Smart LED TV
- Motionflow 120
- 2 HDMI
I was assuming the motionflow is the refresh rate. However, when I look at the details on Best Buy it shows, at 60hz.??? Will have to make some calls on this....think I want to go 120hz for sure.
Sounds good,...be clear on the refresh rate though.

Love my LG smart led,...so easy to use.

2 HDMI should be enough,...my only video inputs are from the SAT/PVR and the DVD player,...which are easily selected from the LG smart TV screen.
I you are going to have more video feeds, like a video camera,...may need more.

Hate to repeat myself,...if you are going to use a receiver to feed speakers,...highly recommend using optical for the audio from your sources to the rcvr.

Thanks Fast, still trying to figure out the refresh rate on that model. I suspect it really is 60hz and the motionflow 120 is just some sort of electronic trickery to boost the "horsepower".
If this is the case, then need to figure out if the trick works!

I bought a samsung 51" plasma from Walmart in the early spring, this is the TV I wanted.... For $500! Best TV for the money.

So if you can find one near you, I would go for it.

I've read good things about the sony w800b.

I suggest going to the rtings.com website, very good reviews of TVs, give you a better idea what to buy... So many out there.

Want to thank y'all for the input.........that input and extensive reading of reports and debates on the refresh rate.............seemed to suggest as all programming is coming in at 60, the 120 hz systems, dumb down. And for sports, both Sony and Samsung do some sorcery to get a 60 work like a 120! I think LG had a similar system. Each company had different names for this feature. The 120hz was good for games, but that isn't of interest to me.
So, in the end, went with a Samsung C5 series 5203 , 60hz,with a motion adjustment to 120. 50" screen, from Costco...689.00
Now I have to figure out how to get the old 500 lb. set out, and the new one plugged in and programmed! Any suggestions for a charity that might be interested in a TV? (that picks up!)

Enjoy the new tv. With Costco, check the price in a month or three as they will pay you the difference if they drop the price. Not sure the time limit for this offer.

I put mine up for free on Kijiji,...some students picked it up, supposedly because CRTs are better for games.

First, I suggest you stay away from Plasma.
I never understand why people say stay away from Plasma, especially the top end Panasonic models. The guy who calibrated my Plasma said he's done hundreds of LCD/LED TV's and said he's never seen a better more real life picture than the last generation Panasonic Plasma.

Not sure plasma is much of an option anymore. Panasonic was the big player and they've been done for a year.

Unfortunately yes, Panasonic discontinued Plasmas last year but you can still find good used ones and the odd new if you look around.
