Someone is messaging SPs claiming to be me. Clearly making attempts to ruin my reputation through either fake bookings or being a shitty client. They don't even type like me which is hilarious 😂 I only contact Terb SPs from my real number which most of these ladies have and can verify with me directly. I also never lead with my terb handle when I book.

So beware, ladies and gents. If this guy is trying to impersonate me, he could impersonate any of us. Thanks to @Jenesis for reaching out, informing me, and confirming that it's not me. The number is most likely a text app. But even still, just wanted to let you all know so you can all tell your regulars.

It’s actually a VOIP system with Fibernetics. Which is why my ads are now clear that I only accept registered Ontario cell phone carriers.

If ladies want the number, please PM me.

I questioned the different number and he said it was a new number. I promptly called him out in his bullshit.

Ladies - always confirm the TERB client via PM. I don't book via PM but I will confirm a client is who he says he is this way. IMG_0058.jpeg

This is why I always ask TERB members (who are using their handle to book) to PM me from their account.

Did you mean Fibernetics? They're a CLEC who sell residential, business, and wholesale phone services. In other words they are a registered phone carrier.

As to what their resellers are doing, that's a whole other matter...

Sorry. Spelling mistake. Yes. This is correct except their not a cellular company and from my understanding, their cell services are VOIP/data systems. I don't know about the others but most CLECs are used with VOIP services. Usually businesses use these for employees. Cheaper solutions then using regular cell phone carriers and plans.

So for me - I do not accept anything that is not a registered Ontario CELL phone company. Rogers, Bell, Telus, etc. Those are my rules. They work for me.

I have no problem with your rules, but personally I'd take Rogers off that list. Anyone supporting those thieves doesn't deserve to see you. :)

Would it surprise you to learn that Rogers and Telus are both CLEC's in Ontario? In most of Canada Bell is the incumbent (the ILEC).

Bonus fun fact, most voice calls on cellular are actually VoIP. VoLTE more precisely.

I could go into a whole lot more detail on telco topics but I'd bore you and probably out myself.

Hang on a second. So this means that this goof probably texted you from a work phone? If so, could that mean it's traceable? @justplainbob ?
No, they don't provide mobile service. Most likely one of the text app providers is just buying bulk service from Fibernetics now.

So it is for sure text apps because I always thought it was business VoIP services.

Again, I have always stayed away from accepting bookings from that carrier so either way it doesn’t matter to me but I would prefer to have correct information.

Can I ask about Telus integrated? They are not exactly the same as the regular Telus? I know they are apart of but a different branch. I don't accept them either.

Telus Integrated is basically the legal holding company for all of the Telus businesses. Mobile, wireline, commercial, etc.

Where things get complicated is how to define a VoIP service. It's a technology used in a bunch of different business models.

Take Rogers for example. You can get a package from them including internet, tv, and phone. That phone number is delivered over VoIP, even though you might have ported your Bell wireline number to it. Rogers is not going to sell you SMS to use with it though.

Then you get to commercial service. I have a connection from my telephone system to Rogers. I can place/recieve 250 concurrent calls on it, and it's all VoIP until Rogers connects them to the public switched telephone network (PSTN). I could use it to do outbound SMS (think login account verification) but not inbound.

Finally we get to VoIP resellers. They go to the various carriers and buy bulk services. Some of them (VoIP.ms) sell only voice service. Others like textnow provide a text app.

Anyone can start one, but they have to negotiate with a facility based carrier to actually get phone numbers to allocate to their customers and a connection to the PSTN to make and receive calls. The problem is that phone providers are regulated and have to sell that service.

All of that was a long way around to say text apps are the issue, not VoIP. It's very common to find low cost voice providers using the same wholesalers.

Something just occurred to me. I've never seen a text app that didn't require a mobile number to get the account. So, these are traceable.

My understanding is it is difficult to trace based on the anonymous information used to set up the account. You use email to create a text app account, not the phone number. Also I heard that companies like TextNow don’t corporate with police very much. They say they do but I have police officers tell me they make it difficult.

@justplainbob

thanks for clarifying some of the info though. Clearly I was wrong in some of what I thought. I mean I still won’t accept these numbers but I have a better understanding of why. Sorry @RebelinBed for my misinformation.
