You could almost see it coming.

The week before Roma played totally indifferent against Villarreal at home, this after dismantling them in Spain. They left the filed to whistles.

I did send a tweet to Cristante, asking him to play got Canada. He's not quite Owen Hargreaves but he's better than what they have.

When are Argentina, PSG and MC going to realize that you can't win with Di Matia and Aguerro?

Mario Balotelli attended the match at Monaco. While he was still with MC, I predicted that he would not realize his potential unless he reconciles with his biological parents. Well he's too proud to show consideration and look at him now.

Christian Vieri made a joke about his former club and the state of Serie A football:

"When Claudio Lotito (Lazio owner) buys pants, he gets them without pockets".

Roma just screwed Serie A out of an extra spot in the Champions League.

Champions League forecast:

Atletico Madrid vs Leicester

Since the EPL is the greatest football league in the universe Atleti should concede. Winner Atletico Madrid

Monaco vs Dortmund

Monaco are exciting to watch but they concede as many goals as they score. Borussia are balanced. Winner. Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona vs Juventus

If Barca concede five goals against Juve, they'll be crying on La Rambla. Winner. Juventus

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich

CR7 new maturity is lifting Real. Bayern looked awesome against limp-wristed opposition but their defense is ageing. Winner. Real Madrid.

Now that Leicester have fired Ranieri indignantly, they are just another asshole English club. With the money they got for Pogba, Juve signed Higuain and Pjaca. The later (pronounced Piazza) has unlimited upside. Pogba decided to be a mercenary and by doing so made Juve stronger.

Juventus 3 Barcelona 0

Manchester United paid Juve 89.3 million Pounds for Paul Pogba.

Real Madrid 2 Bayern 1

Bayern are going sideways, they need to get younger.

UEFA is tossing the EPL a bone, they have decided that four nations will get four CL spots. Under the current arrangement, if Leicester is eliminated by Atletico, the EPL would lose their co-efficient to Serie A. The English League holds English players in disdain, they haven't produced a world class player since Paul Gascognie. That how their National Team is prone to embarrassments like losing to Iceland. As such the English game has taken to a sickbed. Without a domestic bedrock the EPL is strictly a mercenary league. There only to make stiffs like Sergio Aguerro very rich.

FIIINALLY!

The plans for Lo Stadio della Roma have been approved by Rome's municipal council. UEFA came in to lobby for the final vote. On the face of it you'd wonder why James Palotta stuck with it so long, but it's not that hard to figure out. Having a grand venue with 56,000 seats all branded with the Roma logo, in one of the the planet's most famous cities, the potential profits would be staggering. Roma would close the gap with two years, and Real and Barca within four. Now the only item that could slow it down is if some archeological treasure were found while digging.

Some celebratory music, the origin of the Champions League anthem.

It's official.

Ac Milan are now owned by a Eurasian MLSE (Sino-Europa Sports group), they have served noticed that they are spending. Among the list of players they are looking at are Cesc Fabregas (?) and Monaco sensation Kylian M'Bappe. They don't need to spend that much as Milan already has a good crop of homegrown players starting with Donnarumma. The company's home office is in the Pearl River Delta in which Hong Kong and Macao are part.

It also shows where the money is going, the Chinese have long memories. Marco Polo is popular in the PRC, Lord Napier most certainly is not!

Thanks Galseigin...I was beginning to feel orphaned.

Much was made about Sergio Busquets missing Match 1, Barcelona would overcome with his return at Camp Nu. At least Barca got him back, Juve were missing Marko Pjaca who injured his knee playing for Croatia. Had he been in the game Juve could have attacked from both sides at will. Pjaca and Dybala will be for Juve what Robben and Ribery have been for Bayern.

A classy move by Patrik Evra, Juve would have honoured his contract but he chose to take a free transfer in January. Alex Sandro could no longer be kept on the bench.

Bayern couldn't penetrate RM either, I think Robben needs to be told to stop doing everything by himself and try to pass the ball. (but the empires sucked in that game too)

Good for you Phil, during my party daze I happened to be in Amsterdam when Ajax won the Eredivision title. I barely survived it.

To underscore the rise of Serie A, Riccardo Kishna couldn't crack the Lazio starting lineup, he was loaned out to Lille to get him playing time. Stefan De Vrij has been injured for most of the season, Holland could have used him in the friendly against The Azzurri.

Carlo Ancelotti wants to remake Bayern into his type of team. He wants Marco Verratti to join the club, PSG has put the asking price at 86 million Euros. Considering how PSG got snacked on like a crepe Suzette by Barcelona, he may be eager to leave.

Barca was shutout by the great Buffon as well as Juve defense. However I believe that It's a Spanish Darby RM v ATM and Juventus plays Monaco in the semis starting May 2nd.

Seperated at birth: Henrik Lundqvist and Gigi Buffon.
Don't get me started. NY is hopeless on the power play yet scores one while down a man to force OT and then the winner scored by someone who only had 2 goals during the regular season.

Henrik v Price in the first round .. gotta watch tv.

Henrik has a longer face than Gigi, but apart from that they look a lot alike.

I've been looking into Ac Milan's new owners and all I get is smoak. With Inter Milan the picture is completely clear, Suning Enterprises bought Pirelli Inc., the parent company that owned the club, ending the 50 year relationship between Inter and the Moratti family. Indonesian telecommunications magnate Erik Thohir sold his majority stake to Suning, he still holds 30%. The company provides business and broadband services to the Pearl River Delta. The PRD is comprised of 4 major cities: Guoangzhou (Canton), Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao.

So far information on the Sino-Europa Sports Group has been cloudy. One report suggests that they are also a PRD entity, another says that they are from Shanghai. The later is significant, while the PRD is the PRC's face to the world, Shanghai manages the domestic market. In spite of Chinese fondness for all things Italian it's not a one -way street. China is looking to Italy to help them develop a youth program that will see them eventually compete at the highest level. Up till now, Chinese soccer clubs regularly get their asses kicked in competitions, it's critically important to Beijing that this does not continue.
