Not a good display against the sub .500 Orioles. I'm concerned about Hoffman I think he's gotten progressively worse as the season has gone on. He's not dependable.

Orioles I think are 36-30 under their new manager - they just dug themselves such a massive hole, when their offence should have been better,

As for Hoffman, He has certainly not been getting progressively worse.
He was absolutely dreadful in May after a good start to the season.
In June and July he has been solid. Not lights out closer, but solid.

We still need another back end guy to pitch in the 7th-9th, whether Hoffman is the closer or not. Especially with management liking to play leverage pitchers like Rodriguez and Little in tight games in the 5th/6th inning.

In May he he had an ERA of 13.50 with a WHIP of 2.00
Since May he has had an ERA 3.00, a WHIP of 0.95, an a 24-4 K/BB ratio in 18 innings. That's solid. not great though.

Agree, he's Jeff Romano+. cringeworthy. Yarriel or Yimi should be closer.
Yimi could well be out for the season. He has lingering injury issues, so you can't count on him, Even if he were healthy he does seem to be more comfortable in set-up roles than as a closer..

You are really limiting the value of Yariel by making him the closer. It would be a bad tactical decision in my view. Yariel can give 4-6 outs in close games anywhere between the 5th to 9th innings, and he can pitch anywhere in the game. Don't want to limit that guy to the closer role. Its pretty valuable when a guy is comfortable in multiple slots in the bullpen, including closer time to time.. Outs in close games whether they are in the 6th-9th inning are basically just as critical.

We are not going to have an elite closer. But many contenders do not either. We just need more capable bodies if that is not the case, so we have a good pen from inning #5-#9 in close games. If we can get one more leverage reliever, and hope that one of Garcia/Sandlin are healthy in September, we would have a deep bullpen.

Hoffman
Yariel
Little
Dominquez
Trade?
Garcia or Sandlin

That would be a good enough bullpen, but its critical that we add one more reliever today or tomorrow.

Has anyone checked out Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski yet??
Dude's fastball tops out at 101-102mph, his slider at 95mph, and his curve at 90mph.

How TF is anyone supposed to hit that??!! 😬

I'm glad I have IPTV, cause he's one of the few opposition players I will tune into just to watch him pitch

Yes. What a find by MIL. Drafted in the 2nd round out of a JUCO back in 2022.

Dumbass runner on 3rd should have took off for home immediately.
Not sure. It was not hit and run and he had to make sure throw was not to the plate so he waited for the throw to first

Is that not the third base coach decision?

In hindsight a throw to the plate would have stopped a triple play but not a double play to first and that depends on hitters speed and speed of guy on third

It is not that simple

Need Buck Martinez to help us out

Its a gamble for sure, but if it pays off then it might work
Another unreliable pitcher . Just what we need

What about trading Santander? He is probably out this year and I dont want him back in and messing up the chemistry but good for 30 + homers for the next few years. He would make a good pick for some team if the Jays eat some of his contract
