How many of those dingers came when the Jays were out of contention?
now you're playing semantics. He's hit 30, 26 and 32 hrs over the past 3 seasons, you can expect somewhere around that mark from him this season. The season is 162 games most of you have turned into pessimists like NBA fans lol.

I would replace the word "pessimist" with the word "skeptic", but you're right. Just beware of the athelete that has great stats in meaningless games.

Andres Gimenez isn't going anywhere in the next five years...

I think Gimenez is a good ball player, he's had a slow start with the bat but the glove is solid. But in no way should he ever command that kind of $$. Cleveland was dumb to sign him to that and we were even dumber to trade for that.

Finally can say great win for the Jays

Best play of game was great running by Vlad. Goes from second to third on a medium fly to center
He saw the fielder step back to make catch taking away
forward throw momentum. Vlad then leap slide head first into third so the throw hit his foot
then scored winner

Looks like Tony Taters is right on schedule he has 4 dingers, equalling last year's number at the end of April. He hit 40 more last year from May to season's end. Bo getting on base, Vladdy hitting one in the previous game and KIrky is heating up also and Varsho getting in on the HR act last night. This is the offence we were expecting at season's start.

I would really like to see Varsho batting second like he did in spring training where he looked fabulous. Guerrero three, Santander four. I'm not sure how John Schneider doesn't see Vladys career numbers batting third as opposed to second.

With this kind of payroll 100% his job is on the line. This organization puts way too much importance on his minor league relationship with the current roster. They should at least demote him back to a bench coach.

...with the 80s/90s style of National League team this organization has tried to put together the past 2/3 years with a defense first mentality.... you would think they would at least resort to the number three guy being your best hitter and being in the best opportunity to do the most damage.

This organization is happy with mediocrity!
Disgree. They want a winner as that means $

But, they are way too focused on making $ by filling the stadium in the present and not the future.
They are semi decent in building a pretender, not a contender, and in the doing
ignore the future as we had one of the best farm systems and now we have one of the worse

You have to bite the bullet and accept a few years of total mediocrity by trading all your vets for the future.

Who will want Vlad now with his contract that will weigh this club down for years?

I see no future until management is gone then we need to bring in sharp management
when the ownership has proven unable to do so

Who wants to come into a rebuild that will take many years ? with aging vets and a bad farm system, not a couple of years which would happen if we had traded quality vets for future talent

A few years of mediocrity what team have you been watching? Shapiro and Atkins will never get the job done.

I don't watch or listen to sports talk shows or read everything that is said about the team. Has Edward Rogers ever made any statements regarding the future of the team

My point is they were trying to build a contender and created mediocrity when they should have accepted mediocrity and built for the future

Lots of examples in sports IE the Leafs under Ballard and the present Leafs that rebuilt

While they have not won the Cup they have built contenders as actually winning
it all is extremely difficult but lots of examples as how to build a contender and that is done with an intelligent rebuild if you are not the Yanks or Dodgers which have very deep pockets

The Jays have the money but not the brain trust

The future is even bleaker so enjoy mediocrity while it lasts
