I would never touch a NF jacket simply because I think that they diluted their quality (and brand) by appealing to the street punks over the past decade and a half.

LLBean has good jackets, Filson has good jackets.

Same can be said for Patagonia and now CG.

I have an ugly green duffel bag from Patagonia purchased 15 years ago. It still looks new and zippers work fine. I don't expect the same from their products now.

The upper levels clothing series are good and don't expect that to change because many cold weather professionals wouldn't let it happen. The entry level stuff is over priced.

I wouldn't say CG isn't good. It is 550 fill, so it will get you through cold weather. Would I wear it? heck if i'm after comfort I would but the style doesn't appeal to me now. probably when i'm in my teens it would look really cool. I tried 'em, they fit just fine. but for the $$$, there are comparable jackets for 50% less. Eddie Bauer have good parkas, LLBean have better ones (very warm) although, they tend to get hot when you're bundled up and doing some activity outdoors. even on -15...that warm. I'm buying a jacket myself. It's either EBauer or LLBean now. Marmot have good ones i might consider but i don't like the colors of their jackets.

I wear one of those puffy nike jackets that i bought at a sporting good store. I only wear a short sleeved shirt with it during the winter and i am warm as ever.

+1 on LL Bean.

There is also another Canadian company that is very popular in Quebec. Made in Quebec, lifetime warranty. They carry winter coats for different activities with cold temperature ranges.
