I don't think anyone should be surprised by any articles like this one. These groups have prospered for hundreds of years. As a matter of record the Mason's wrote the Declaration of Independance.

Every country in the world has a secret company running it. Of course they are usually tied to some Monarchy/Government in one form or another. Even good ole Canada is run by the OlD Boys network!

I think you missed the point. What is shocking is that "the old white guys" connected heavily to the Republican administration would use a war that would kill thousands to get rich.

Cheney is the most corrupt person in power today. Here is damning evidence that he used the war for his own personal financial gain.

Halliburton May Have Overcharged Millions

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm...o_ca_st_pe/halliburton_probe&cid=542&ncid=716

Highlight:

"Auditors found potential overcharges of up to $61 million for gasoline that a Halliburton subsidiary delivered as part of its no-bid contract to help rebuild Iraq's oil industry. "

So

aren’t all of Cheney's assets in a blind trust while he's in office?

I love you conspiracy nuts - just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean that everyone isn't after me....

No.

Don't be naive. Many Republicans are making a financial killing off the Iraq war/imperialism. But, of course, that had/has nothing to do with their decision to go to war and remain in Iraq.

Cheney and Halliburton are soooooo in bed with each other. Cheney was given a SWEEEEEEEEEEEET retirement package from Halliburton and Halliburton got a SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET contract from the Republicans. I guess you think that is entirely coincidental?? I love you brainwashed Americans.

If not Haliburton, then who? Please help me with a list of other companies that do this kind of work. Put another way ar you equally concerned that Boeing and Airbus are getting all the airline contracts at the exclusion of Honda, Kia and Ford.

Sure, how about Bechtel, Fluor, the Parsons Group, Schlumberger and Foster Wheeler?

http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/issues/iraq/after/2003/0808bechtel.htm

Why was the initial contract no-bid? Why does the United States Army Corps of Engineers have the most power over the contracts and not the Iraqi oil ministry? Things that make you go Hmmmmm.

Do any of the above companies have any contracts?

If they don't where are they headquartered?

I was kind of curious as to what some Americans (EBS to be specific) think of the Carlyle group and their rather disturbing influence on US foreign policy.

Seven,

I've been aware of Carlyle group for a number of years. In a nutshell, I am exasperated. This same kind of sweetheart deal is the engine for our 3 billion dollar a year foreign aid to Israel. Almost 2 billion of that is military assistance in the form of grants that translate to huge giveaways to companies like Loral and Martin Marrietta. The Bin ladens quietly sold their holdings in this conglomerate a few days after 9/11. That would be a few days after the Bin Laden clan here in the states was allowed to leave the country on private jet despite the fact that nothing else could fly during those times. I would certainly say there is plenty of cause for objective observers to point to a real problem in American government when we can attempt to bring down a President for a blow job and Whitewater, yet turn a blind eye to all of these inappropriate associations of this administration. This is exactly what Eisenhower meant when he talked about the "military industrial complex". Even more disturbing is the point that when the facts are made public, they will clearly show that the CIA, DIA and NSA were circumvented by a rogue office of intelligence set up in the Pentagon under the orders of Rumsfeld. The evidence will show that they deliberately submitted intelligence that could not be verified yet was used to substantiate the "WMD" case for invasion of Iraq. I can only hope that there are candidates articulate enough to explain to the American public how they have been manipulated behind their fears of 9/11. Afghanistan was good. Iraq..why now?

FYI-Dick Cheney as CEO of Haliburton sold Saddam Hussein 73 million dollars worth of oil drilling equipment. In 1996, Cheney appeared on a 60 Minutes Interview espousing the point of view that we should lift the trade sanctions on Saddam. That despite the fact that he had been a card carrying member of the PNAC/Neo-CON crowd who had already formulated the strategy to take out Saddam. They were livid that Bush 1 capitulated to the UN (under the guidance of his sane "old school conservative" advisors). I am quite surprised that nobody has taken Cheney on to explain himself. How does this man go from somebody with whom we should trade to somebody who is the preimenent treat to America?

OTB--some of the stuff you post on here evokes mixed emotions..I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Be thankful I don't explain that statement.

Hey EBS Genius,

If Cheney is so connected why couldn't he protect Halliburton from Asbestos lawsuits which have nearly brought this supposedly well run firm to its knees?

Cheney=xSecDef=CEO Haliburton...

Actually Mitz, if you'll check the record you;ll find that Haliburton now has the opportunity to settle those lawsuits for a sweetheart deal. During his tenure as CEO of Haliburton, he had one problem...the Clinton Administration. You can bet that any attempt to sidestep the asbestos issue would have been vigorously opposed by the Clinton EPA and Justice Dept. This settlement possibility was discussed on Ludlow and Kramer on CNBC just the other evening. I realize that you poor folks are living in the information dark ages up there, but at least read a bit before you make a fool out of yourself. Other than that, skippy, you can't be much more connected than to transition from Secretary of Defense to CEO of Haliburton and then rely on those contacts to directly solicit DOD business for a bottom line benefit for Haliburton. I know that may be difficult for you to understand. If you need an explanation, ask Papasmerf. He seems about as lucid on these matters as any other Johnny lunch bucket.

I believe you will find that Dick Cheney divested himself of Haliburton, prior to takinbg office. Problem is liberals just wont publish this fact in posts.

We'll see cramer, the momentum does seem to be on the side of settling now because so many companies are fed up with being accused.
