Doubtful, to many Russian ships continue to float...Does that mean Ukraine is going to win the war in the sea?
Less as time goes on.Doubtful, to many Russian ships continue to float...
At the beginning of 2023, Russia had 49 surface warships (surface combatants, amphibious, mine warfare) plus support and auxiliaries with 5 submarines.I guess the moral of the story is that unless the navy is at sea and moving, it's not going to be survivable for long.
If a non naval power like Ukraine can sink a Russian fleet, imagine what a more technologically advanced power could do to the Russian fleet?!
One US Destroyer, the USS Carney patrolling the Northern Red Sea, downed 4 cruise missiles and 14 drones on a Thursday evening in October fired from Yemen at Israel, that were supplied by Iran to the Houthis.Russia's navy has never been that great. They built a lot of subs and surface ships, had a few technical innovations, but, like most things in their military, a lot of it has rotted from mismanagement and neglect. They don't really have a lot of super modern equipment that can counteract Ukraine's drones or missiles. Now, I'd be curious to know what the US Navy'd capabilities are in stopping this type of attack, say from Iran in the Persian Gulf....
Yes, but those were not missiles designed to kill a naval warship. Those types of missiles fly really close to the water to avoid some of the anti-air defences. I feel that the Americans probably have a number of counter measures that would defeat them, but you never really know its capabilities until it's used in action. One US Destroyer, the USS Carney patrolling the Northern Red Sea, downed 4 cruise missiles and 14 drones on a Thursday evening in October fired from Yemen at Israel, that were supplied by Iran to the Houthis.

The USS Mason, was targeted by Houtis in 2016 with anti ship missiles on two seperate occasions over a period of 4 days.Yes, but those were not missiles designed to kill a naval warship. Damaged by Russian officials? There were reported divisions, but I had no idea...Less as time goes on.
ORYX lists 11 russian ships confirmed destoyed and 5 as damaged and out of action.

This doesn't include the two Serna class landing crafts just hit on Friday, with satellite images showing, as of yesterday, one sunk and the other half way there.
It also doesn't include the Karakurt class corvette confirmed damaged in Kerch by Russian officials, satellite and ground imagery is inconclusive but some experts say it is damaged beyond repair.
This ship, the Askold, was just launched and had not even been commisioned yet.

Not too shabby for a country without a powerful navy.
Send the Baltic fleet to the pacific, it will be fine, it's only the Japanese, what's the worse that can happenThe other problem…. Russia has has 4 major Sea’s to patrol, so mobilizing large force has always been an issue. Getting subs from the Arctic Ocean to the Black Sea takes time… and Combat situations don’t usually allow that.
This is precisely why the US build the Panama Canal. They understood time.
