in about 10 years we will be printing our clothes at home, in our exact size, the only thing you'll have to buy is the design, and even that will be copy-able. Welcome to Digital - your IP means shit all and thats probably they way it should be.
You can do that right now. Just purchase a pattern, material and sew away to your heart's content.
I mean with 3d printers. Nice GIF btw.
thanks.
I don't see 3D printing to be affordable, personal/consumer-wise, in 10 or even 20 years.

I’m not surprised, I can’t remember the last time I went into a gap store.
I’ll bet you if most people reading this think about it it’s probably been a long time for them too.

Thing is, Gap has diversified:
  • Old Navy - for really cheap quality and matching prices
  • Banana Republic - for older professionals outgrowing Gap.

Sort of cannibalized itself for lack of a better term. Personally, I find that the designs are lacking and overpriced, especially for the quality that you're getting.

Sure, if you want to wear plastic pants. Get back to me when they figure out how to 3D print cotton fabrics. lol

Costco has name brand pants such as Dockers for around $20. This same brand costs nothing less than $50 at The Bay.

There is a Discount Warehouse that moved into the vacated Sears location at Pickering Town Centre. Their range of Men's, Women's and Children's attire were relatively cheap. However, that store barely had any clients. Now they have decided to shut down that store. So most stuff is selling for barely $10. Three stores that are next to them are also closing, including a jewellery store.

Not long before there will barely be any brick and mortar stores. Malls are useful during the winter months.

Seems to be too many retail Malls and Outlets and yes online shopping Amazon and many others have hurt the retailers...Hard to compete with the big box stores like Costco , Walmart
What are they going to do with all that space?
How about more Massage parlors ..they seem to be doing well:)

Most of these retail stores are going into the online business....no more overhead costs...the only thing this hurts are employment. People want the convenience of not going to stores to buy stuff now. They order online and rather spend time doing other stuff they enjoy. I'm a big outdoors guy and that's the only thing internet can not take compete with...bestbuy will be next...the only saving grace for walmart is the supermarket, and homedepot would be garden, lumber & gyprock...

It's called fast fashion. Instagram, kids these days buy a new outfit, instagram it, once it goes viral and creates a trend, everyone else buys the same outfit. The outfit is never woen again and sits in the closet. Then they go and buy another outfit to create a new trend and the cycle goes on.

Ah no, there is still the need to touch and feel the clothes and to try it on for fit. Also instant gratification when they get the product right away and go home with it. Many young people can't wait a day or two for delivery (delayed gratification) even if it's free. You can do that online. Also, there still is the social element of shopping. Friends and family get together for an outing then go to a restaurant.

Interesting take H&M took over share of Gap market. I don't shop at H&M but that place always seems busy.

I used to be a gap/banana republic customer. Then I discovered Hollister online. Never when to a mall the last 2 years.

I go to Jonathan (in quebec) for my working classy clothes which I only need to wear 4 or 5 days a month so no big deal.

Cheers,

I don't know who designed the roadways in and around Yorkdale but they should never have another job as road planners again.

Gap is planning to spin off Old Navy this year/next year as a distinct entity. That's a sign of them trying to raise money and you can take that as you will.
