It is the old usual story, if you are rich the USA is the place to live. If you are not then Canada is a far better choice.
I think the story has changed...just waving a flag and saying "We are the greatest country on earth" doesn't make it great...the USA may be the most arrogant country on earth but it's not the greatest.
Switzerland would be my second choice.
USA seems too dangerous. Gun deaths. Unfettered policing. Highest incarceration rate in the world. Chance of your children being used as cannon fodder. Ellen DeGeneres......
As Wednesday showed, the USA does not have control over their citizens...I blame the politicians and all the media outlets for forcing disinformation and lies at them, and the big problem with that is these people know better, but they do it anyway.
This century the biggest influx of immigrants moving to the GTA are Americans. From Western New York and Pennsylvania in particular. It helps that they can become dual citizens.

Rankings like this are bullshit. Ask someone from the First Nations if Canada should be #2, you'll get a different answer. For a white male like me, it's a great country, but we're not all white males.
A fact people often overlook is that small countries like Canada, Switzerland, and New Zealand rely heavily on their large neighbours. This is mainly economically and militarily. Canada can short change it's military investments to devote more funds for social programs, mainly because it resides next to a military powerhouse. I think sometimes Canadians overlook this and try and attribute it to being more civilized.
