Well all you tree huggers and liberals can calm down now.
Dougie cancelled the development on the greenbelt.
Good.

Now DoFo needs to resign.
It was his deal, he needs to own it.

And he needs to cancel the Ontario Place Spa and his Highway 413.
Then he needs to fully fund Metrolinx in Toronto.

Or the party should do it once they've booted him out.

Is anyone surprised?

whether seriously unscrupulous, some or a little. Staying in power, and keeping voters happy, trumps all. Whether their names are Ford, McGuinty, Wynne or JT.

Harper and Chretian I liked.they believed in what they thought best, and weren’t afraid to piss off voters.

bazokajoe that's kaka, it's not about pacifying tree huggers, it's about the GTA's food security.

lol, oh please.
Have you looked around the GTA? Most of Ajax was all farmland just a few years ago. Today Suburbia from the 401 all the way we’ll past 7..to the Airport….

North Oshawa, Winfield farms and Secretariat…..Brooklin was a farm town of 1,500 not all that long ago just minutes north Whitby and Taunton. Today all cookie cutter boxes in fishbowls….Today Brooklin is 20,000 and projected to be 4x its size and 80,000 in 8 years.

carbon taxes
Fertilizer
More
People that live in cities telling rural Canada how to live :)

Google the development plans for Port Perry. A few short years ago, you’d miss it if you blinked.:)

Actually, we need to keep hammering away at this. He didn't just make a mistake of poor judgement. He showed himself for what he truly is. Corrupt, a liar, a grifter and someone who has an inability to lead this province.

Are you proud of how he handled this whole affair? Did he do a good job of dealing with the greenbelt?

What are you proudest of?

The broken promises?
The loss of the public trust?
Causing some of his fellow conservatives to lose their jobs?
They were all very "admirable" outcomes. LOL

Tell us how good a job he did. If he hadn't totally mishandled this fiasco and he hadn't misunderstood the will of the public, the tree huggers, liberals and media would have had no ammunition with which to take him down. In the end he had to acknowledge that this deal was indefensible. It was all due to his ineptitude.

So where is housing going to be built now? Not everyone wants to live in a shoebox condo downtown or commute 2+ hours each way.

What's the solution here?

Save that farmland and bring in policy that helps them sell…..:) City dwellers telling rural Ontarians how to live green. So ironic.

Forget north Pickering/Ajax and the airport.

Port Perry

Brooklin. From 1,500 and all farmland. To 80,000 by 2031
Growth plans, one already approved, the other approved but still under appeal, will see an estimated 21,000 to 26,000 more people move into West Whitby, while Brooklin will expand by a whopping 56,000 people.
When I looked out the window at Sinclair (back then), there were sheep to the north and cows. At our 25th anniversary (in 2019), now when you look out from the fourth floor (at Sinclair) there are houses in every direction,” she said in reflecting on current growth.
Winfield farms north Oshawa, just a few years ago. Farmland

never mind, thousands of homes. On precious, food security :)

Don't worry. It won't be long before the next political party in power will do the same thing and say the same thing as Dougie has. Political parties have very very short memories.

Please go through your article and tell us:
1) how much land the libs and cons put up for development
2) how much greenbelt land was added by each government

That's just a single topic. It is Ford's misconduct that is the larger issue. The premier is a guy who has an impact on every decision. He is supposedly the leader of the of the province. He has shown that he could not be trusted.

Do you think that he did a good job? Did he make proper decisions? Is he worthy of being premier. He didn't want to listen as to what he was being advised. Guaranteed he was told not to follow the path he did and was presented with alternatives.

BTW, New Yorkers seem to deal with limited/smaller accommodations and commuting just fine.

I don't think NGY understands economics but he proved my point. Small towns and rural farmers are doing an excellent job of managing the Greenbelt, it's cities that are wasteful.

As an example, it's far cheaper to ship fresh peas from Sharon Ontario than from Marlette Michigan. Shipping costs are almost always passed to the consumer.

It's not a matter of memory.

It's a matter of if you have the intelligence to know what the right thing to do is. DoFo is a dumbass.

It's a matter of if you have the integrity to do what is the proper thing. Lying and and backtracking on promises does not show integrity. It is the mindset and lack of integrity a high school drug dealer.

The Libs are far from perfect, but the Cons hold the patent on doing things that are based on the interests of money and big business.

A Lib or NDP gov't would be head and shoulders above the Cons in both those areas. People who are dishonest can't understand that other people think differently than they. They (and you) mistakenly project your your thoughts and behaviours on others.

Skoob.
Personally I think it’s too late. I live well north of port Perry, and the developments are starting…..They will be just like Oshawa. All bedrooms and no economic activity other than retail………….never mind that meme..

Ford to his credit is trying to get something happening in Windsor. Building some infrastructure and enticing a company….
The nail in the coffin was the Liberals watching small town Ontario go under, and voters in the gta. Sticking their heads in the sand… and people like Von, who clearly don’t understand economics, nor that “food security” is so important him, while farms all over have been paved under……within eyesight, if he looked.

Is there time now, money now, to build infrastructure, entice companies, to locate, supply jobs, which turn, draws other businesses, more people, more activity, more business, more people, somewhere other than GTA

doubtful.
Just look at the Maritimes. “Welfare bums”, whose kids leave no differently than youth in small town Ontario, no differently than people from across the big pond.

for greener pastures

Both parties are pro business. The fibberals created the green belt as a façade. There was more debelopment around the gta after they ‘created’ it than before.
All politicians are bullshit artists only in it for themselves and their friends.

So you live in rural areas because you want to live away from urban areas but you also want more rural areas developed into urban areas?

That's what the dirty ones tell you so you will back them.
Most of Ontario is smart enough not to fall for that.
