I've never been one to buy things the day or month they come out but 3-4 months later after all the reviews are out and positives and negatives established I'm ready to buy if interested. Where phones and tablets are concerned it is more about the software on them these days as the hardware is all pretty much in step depending on the month you are buying it.
iPad will be surpassed by iPad 2... However don't feel sorry for iPad owners, feel sorry for Galaxy Tab owners, who had no software developed for it and basically are stuck with running phone apps on a tablet. In a year or two developers will stop making their programs compatible with the original iPad and that is when they will be boat anchors/relegated to spot duty. As of now though there is a good amount of software announced/in the pipeline for the original iPad.
