What's up with the issues surrounding this kid?

He was diagnosed with a 'non-post-concussion' related injury... yet, his symptoms were exactly the same as post concussion syndrome and frequent migraine-like symptoms. (exactly the same symptoms Adam Deadmarsh felt when he had to call it a career) Carlo felt dizzy and got sick on the bench 2 minutes into a pre-season practice without bringing his heartrate up to full cardio zone, without any body contact, falls or anything noticeable. And yet, he is on the long term injury status.

What is his real injury?

Why aren't they releasing any information. It's obviously not the flu and not something serious like cancer, and according to the doctors- not post concussion related... so, wtf is it?

Is he just out so he can get away without a drug testing allthewhile doing a cycle of steroids? I don't know. Though, I have heard Lindros apparently did this to recover from his last concussion before signing with the leafs...

Notes: Carlo suffered a severe concussion waaaaay back 10 months ago on January 23rd in a game against Ottawa while trying to bodycheck an opponent. He hasn't played since. He was expected to be a leafs regular this season, health permitting...

I just have one thing to say ... Toronto maple Leafs are always secertive
about injuries ... Haven't you ever heard of the expression upper body injury ..
I am not telling you not to believe in your theory but just saying that the leafs have a history of not revealing injuries ...
Well if you make it public that you have an injury, knee shoulder etc etc, you might as well put a bullseye on you for you're opponents. Trust me they'll go for that specific body part that is ailing you. I suspect he's still suffering from post-concussion injury and apparently mild anxiety attacks.

the quote of the season.

OK- did some research and asked my friend who is a head injury specialist.

here's some conclussions i drew...

1. maurice's tough practice didn't knock anyone else out for numerous weeks. if others were feeling bad too, they recovered. carlo hasn't.

2. I think the announcement that it is not concussion-related was just to blow smoke on the issue, and give Carlo some private time to recover.

3. My friend postulates that he obviously has serious concussion problems. Therefore, i wouldn't expect to see him play for the leafs anymore. if he does, its a big bonus. some guys like mccauley are able to recover and play hockey again. others like brett lindros are not able to do that.

4. some questions have arrived...how long has he been out with the concussion? since january... sounds Brett Lindros, to me...

how many players have been unable to play for 10 months and come back to have nhl careers? compared to those who have been out 10 months and haven't recovered? the ratio greatly sways in favour of not allowing a person to ever play again when the injury lasts more than 12 months.

time is ticking.

On Hockey Central today, someone mentioned that the Leafs have penciled Colaiacovo in on the long-term injury list due to post-concussion syndrome.

was this a mistaken report- it's supposed to be non-post-concussion related.

Greg Gilbert was on Leafs Lunch awhile ago and was saying that Colaiacovo was practicing with the Marlies and working out on his own. Today he was able to participe in a full practice with the Marlies.

i'm definitely not convinced he doesn't have concussion problems.

if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, its probably a duck.

I really hope he is ok. He had so much potential a few years back and it would be nice to see him reach it.

On a lighter note; if he is ok to move around but not well enough to play hockey, maybe Carlo could contribute some reviews on TERB with that $901,740 a year that he makes. It could be his contribution back to the people and it would also provide good cardio for him.

:p

The Colaiacovos are from Etobicoke not Woodbridge....must be an England fan.

Btw what's Brendon Bell's status? He took a nasty slash on the foot from Daniela Heatley; can the Debutants ever learn to control their sticks or are they suffering from penis envy?

That wasn't my point. My point was that alot of people in Woodbridge know Carlo personally... I was hoping to get some inside info to settle the issue... that's all.

Oh take it easy.

I'm from Woodbridge and I know the Colaiacovos personally; he has an older brother who attempted a career as a goalie but was never drafted, his twin brother was in my niece's wedding party and they have a bulldog that craps like a man.

Anything else?

no worries on my part- i take it all easy! lol... discussion boards are no place to get worked up. but, i understand your sentiment... alotta guys seem like they wanna reach through your screen and strangle ya sometimes, eh?

BTW- what's the 'must be an England fan' comment all about? do they have a good hockey team i didn't know about?

and, may i ask, if you know the family personally, can you settle the deal for us... is the injury POST concussion RELATED or NOT?

but, damn is he brittle!

i know... i know... he attempted to block the shot with his hand, though, didn't he? that's not so much bad luck as there was free will involved.

what if it's another cover up of a bigger injury? there's a report of him getting sick in the locker room during that 3rd period on the maple leafs team hockey forums..

besides, a fractured finger keeps football receivers out for maybe 1 week. they heal very fast.

no. i don't. i just happened to have come across some other hockey boards that are alot more in depth than ours. usually reporting stuff before it hits the media or press release where shit gets screened for the mass's...

hey, you don't know if you believe everything you here, do you? i'm just asking the question.

let's not forget the kid played a total of 2 periods of regulation hockey in the last 10 months... none of it in the NHL.
