So what did Toronto get for Carter?
That's a dead horse. Give it up already. Point is how is that allowed to happen?

Sorry, didn't know. Don't follow Basketball daily to know the whole Carter story. But I can imagine.....

hmmm....

Karma's gonna be a bitch for Zoe - what goes around, comes around.

Better not get hurt - those anti inflammatories might kick the crap out of his one good kidney. He won't last the season. Unless he plans to play less than 10 minutes a game.

NV this might be the only thing weve ever agreed on lol, but this guy makes me sick i just saw him being interviewed and he said that he sacrificed alot to go to miami including pay because he gets the league minimum of 325000 for the rest of the season guess he forgot about the 10 million he stole from the raptors without even ever making an appearance in the city, guys like this give athletes a bad name.

Even with a kidney ailment it makes it hard to fell sorry for him in light of this.
I would like to sacrifice for $325,000 for a whole year, fuck the remaining 2 months.

I'm still amazed Zoe came back, but he knew this is it and he wants that ring, to hell with everything else. Spoiled brats in the NBA? Who knew. The only one I feel sorry for in this whole thing is Wesley Person. If there was ever anyone who was as willing to be the role player and was then jerked around in trades like this, I can't think of one. How many teams has this guy been on?

It's amazing! I mean Zo was injured pretty severely, he couldn't play for New Jersey or Toronto, then a medical miracle happened...suddenly he is cured!! I am at a loss for words......

No one at 35 who hasn't won the big one wants to play for a team with no chance at the championship. I'm sure Zoe and Miami management were in on this screw job together.

Actually he played 18 games for NJ before the trade and averaged 25 minutes per game, so he hasn't been riding the pines all season. I don't know why they didn't just give Carter away, cause in the end they got very little. Maybe the draft picks will prove beneficial.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the Raps made the playoffs and faced Miami in the first round?

Who's worse?

Alonzo for screwing Toronto or Babcock for being an idiot for paying him $9-10 million?
All you fucknuts shitting on Zo who has handled himself with professionalism over his career. This was not his best moment, but you can hardly fault the guy for his position.

At no point did Alonzo agree to play for Toronto. The Raps made the deal knowing that Alonzo was probably never going to play a minute in TO.

He was looking to get out. Why Babcock made the deal in the first place, I don't know. Perhaps they should have traded Carter for a couple of basketballs...

Why blame Alonzo? How about putting the blame where it lies, with the Raptors and most likely candidate is Babcock...

Professional players are supposed to play their best for the team that owns their rights. They don't have to agree to play for them. In any other business, if your company is bought out, you don't get a choice as to who you work for, you would have to pay to get out of your contract. An employee who didn't live up to their obligations would be fired and sued if they broke the terms of their contract. If Zo didn't want to play, he should be the one paying to get out of the contract, not the other way around. Zo has had a great career; to bad it ends in this way.

Too bad the Raptors didn't suspend his cheating ass, and let him rot. If they couldn't suspend him then let him rot in the end of the bench.

My thoughts exactly. But the thing is he didn't have the class to even make an appearance in the city. This is a classic example of what is wrong with today's pro sports and pro athletes.

Sorry, n_v, but this is also a classic example of overly demanding people in today's society....

I don't agree with what Mourning did.

But.....This guy has had a great career, has worked his ass off, rarely complained, has not been involved in any off court embarrassments (that I know of), well liked by his peers, coaches and management etc... A guy like this, I would give the benefit of the doubt over someone like say.... Latrell Sprewell, Eric Lindros, John Elway, Eli Manning, Pavel Bure, Dominik Hasek, Danny Heatley

Too bad the Raptors didn't suspend his cheating ass, and let him rot. If they couldn't suspend him then let him rot in the end of the bench.
While I like Mourning, I think that the Raptors should have just suspended him or kept him on the inactive roster or something like that so they could get something for him... As well, the league should have done something about this as it's seems fairly obvious that there was something going on with Miami and Mourning a long time ago..

Previously, I was hard on Babcock...saying that he was the idiot for paying Mourning.... but if I remember correctly, I believe that by paying him out, the somehow cleared some salary cap room for next year.... I also believe that if Mourning's contract was not part of the deal, they could not have gotten rid of Vince because of this 15% differential that each trade must adhere to.

Back to Elway and Lindros!!! I wanted to point out that these two gentleman have legions and legions of fans including many of the guys currently shitting on Mourning...

So I ask you...whey guys like Elway, Lindros, Mario Lemieux, Heatley not crucified in forums like these????

Where is the outcry about Heatley's sentence.....that he got away with killing his buddy???

Mario Lemieux: I cannot remember the details, but Lemieux was involved in a sex scandal a long time ago.... I think that he was having sex with another girl while his teammate Dan somebody or other was "raping" or "forcing himself" on a girl. The girl might have been under 18 as well..

Any thoughts on where the outrage is about these guys?

At least Babcock made a better deal than Atlanta. Antoine Walker for Payton, Yogi Stewart, and Tom Gugliotta. Wait, Atlanta waives Payton and he re-signs in Boston. WTF????

You mention some good examples but the majority of them are of players not having contracts. Mourning did. With respect to Heatley - that is a legal matter not sport leagues to sanction. And I too aggree that Sprewel is a jack ass. I am not saying Mourning is the only one, just another example. This hits a nerve on this board because it affected one of our teams. If he didn't want to play hear then just say it. Don't say it's medical and ask for a buyout. If it was medical don't u think it would of been fair for him to show up on the bench and give pointers and support the team while still getting a paycheque. To top if off he then says he made some supreme financial (gag) sacrifice!! WTF!!!
