i check out the reruns of this show from time to time, and it's usually a pretty good laugh. one of the main things that first enticed me was the wife, she was totally hot! but lately they are showing episodes from later in the show's run, and i have to say 'what happened?' the woman looks like she's gained 40 lbs, i'm not joking! did she have a kid, or get sick or something? i'm not trying to say she should be off the air, but hollywood usually has strict weight gain police for there stars, how did this chick get away with it?

Often if she fits the part, weight gain is not an issue after a successful run. I mean the husband has always been out of shape. Why hold the same standard for his wife? Maybe they are evolving into Dan and Roseanne.
the reason for the weight gain is that in real life she was pregnant but the genius writers didnt put that into the plot of the show instead deciding on lame things like putting her in big jogging suits and having her behind a desk, if you watch the latest episodes she is back to her fit trim oh so yummy self, not that i am saying pregnancy is not attractive in fact alot of women look smoking hot with that pregnant glow 
This reminds me of Friends and the last few episodes...Courtney Cock was SO pregnant they did the same things: shoot her from the waist up, have her stand behind things and the final scene where they are walking down the hall she is obviously due to drop....
But writing it into the show might not be very bright either. On a sitcom it can appear to be a cheap plot move that's done when they've run out of good ideas. And, not a pleasant subject, but didn't they do that with the mother on Married With Children, and then she had a miscarriage?scouser1 said:

She did in fact get pregnant and have a kid...and gained a bit of notoriety because of the problems she was having taking the weight off. She even appeared on an episode of Kristy Alley's show on HBO to make fun of herself (and Kristy of course).

As a child of the 80's, I remember her stint on Saved By The Bell as Stacy Kerosi...the daughter of Leon, who ran the summer beach club that the gang worked at (the episodes played this week on TBS) but the first time I saw her on TV was a short stay on Who's The Boss? When Alyssa Milano (Sam Micelli) was recruited by a modeling agency in NYC - Leah Remini was one of her old friends from Brooklyn who gets discovered by the agency at the same time as Sam.
