Harper added almost as much debt because he didn't see a recession coming.
Trudeau took us through a pandemic.

You back conservatives adding debt but want to use it as criticism only for liberals.

About 120 billion versus 800 billion. In whose world is that almost as much debt. Yours I guess. You have to be the most delusional person in all of Canada... maybe the world.

You're debating with a pathological ideologue whose entire existence involves being on chat boards.

I doubt that. But Carney could in a few years go Chretien/Martin on things.

he is spending more than the idiot king Trudeau

Canada will run into govt debt problems and will impact Heath Care/ Education funding

Chretien/Martin were only able to wind down debt via the GST revenue
Do you want GST 2.0 ?

Goddamn irresponsible liberal idiots

The Liberals are implementing conservative policies
No they are not
If they were Govt would be shrinking and the deficits would be decreasing , not increasing

(defense spending, eliminating the carbon tax, cutting immigration, etc), but because it's not PeePee doing it, all the righties have left is to complain.
Actions speak louder than words
the Liberal campaigned on dealing with a crisis
So they are taking the summer vacation off after spending huge $$
If there was a real crisis govt should not take vacation

Perhaps the righties are turning to far-right extremism (which isn't Conservatism), which is the trend I see happening now. BTW, The US deficit is in the trillions, and the new bill will be in more trillions.
US deficits do not fix or justify Canadian deficits

As the old Cosby joke goes, "how long can you tread water?"

And the answer is: not as long as you’re trying to make it seem.
We aren't the only one that needs a deal. We have energy surcharges to use. The military will need things from us.

Beyond yes. There will be hurt. But is it better to sign a deal that cements us as a vassal state? Canadians won't stand for it. Cripes you guys are screaming about a hold on the DST, and then demand we capitulate to Trump?

As said in a post I've seen online:
To all the people telling me that this is just Carney being a master negotiator, quick question. So far, we've named a fentanyl czar, expanded border security, rolled out draconian legislation to threaten refugee rights, privacy rights, and more, ended dollar for dollar tariffs, committed to an increase of 110 billion annually in defence spending, and now given up 7 billion in tax revenue. If Carney is such a great negotiator, tell me, specifically, what have we gotten out of the deal?

And here's the thing. You say Canada won't stand for it, but what will people like you do? Nothing. You'll make excuses and vote liberal again.

I don't believe you.
It's true. If you go back to the election threads I discussed a need for the Liberals to have a time out. That no matter what they needed to go.

But in the end the leadership and Trump mattered. The poll that showed a tie in party but 10 point difference in leadership preferences was the clear sign. And in the end he couldn't keep a riding he hrld for 20 years.

Carney is not the devil. He is, on the bad side, a private equity guy. And a banker. But when it comes to having the inside track with numerous international power brokers to expand trade its an advantage.

The world is getting worse. International norms are being strained. And sometimes, no matter what you do, it won't help. So I'm taking a long view on things. Because panicking is not going to help.

And it's not about what we have now, it's what we have in the end.

He'll sign whatever the EU nods their head to.
Bit if a rock and a hard place? Yup. EU regulations vs Trump. No good choice really. So instead negotiating slowly to get to better compromises maybe doesn't sound so bad.
