End of the 1st period...

Ottawa 3, Toronto 0.

Toronto is outshot 19-5. Several power plays for Ottawa, including one 2-man advantage (which the Leafs killed off).

Watching this game kills me...not because the Leafs are losing. I can handle losing. But they are being outplayed and outhusled. It's very noticeable that the Leafs lack so much in the speed department compared to other teams. The new NHL is designed for teams with speed, not toughness...but right now, the Leafs have neither.

Something needs to be done, and something needs to be DONE NOW.

This may be a rebuilding year...fine. But this is sad.

Quinn should field the worst players and goalie he can find on Monday.
At least then they'll have an excuse.

well with the new "NHL" you can,t say that. As for Ottawa they
have Chara, Redden as free agents next year. Ain,t gonna sign both.
that will hurt, add to the fact Hasek will be 41? C,mon, this is Ottawa,s
make or break year. The Leafs, well that,s another story. But they can
"tinker" to @ worst make them compete.

Ottawa has outscored them 23-2 at home this year, which doesnt even include the 8-0 shallacking at the ACC.

At least Ottawa brings out Toronto's true weaknesses, in a strange maybe this is the best thing for them so they can totally revamp the team.

I'm sure Ottawa says, thank you Toronto for making us the team with the greatest Goals For/Goals Against Differential in the NHL!

32-9 Is the greatest differential of any 2 teams heading off against eachother in the entire league in this season.

and Ottawa has been playing its worst hockey of the season as of late.

worst of all...no emotion.

Leafs lacked any spirit at all in this game tonight. One of their best rivalries and no one showed up...except Belfour and Sundin to a degree. Leafs need Tucker back...
and what the hell was that weak attempt by Domi at the end to show some emotion...invisible all night and he picks the end of the game to stick his nose in.

Ottawa will once again disappoint their fans during the playoffs....Maybe not against the Leafs but I don't think they have what it takes to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals....

That being said, sadly it looks like the Leafs don't even have what it takes to make it to the playoffs....:(

There's always next year!!!!

they dont have what it takes during the playoffs hmmm lets examine this statement?

scoring yep practically a hall of fame first line
defence well Chara, Phillips, Redden enough said
goaltending in the past it was Patrick "I cant stop a beach ball" Lalime now he is now somewhere in the minors and they have one of the best goalies EVER in Hasek
toughness Mcgratten, Fisher, Neil

would you like to revise your statements now Leaf fans or shall I book your spots on the Stanley Cup parade along the Byward Market :D

It is amazing that Hasek, at 41, still has it!!! He was the reason the Sabres kept going to Stanley Cup playoffs when he was their goalie. I am not sure the Senators will win the Stanley Cup this year but they will go to playoffs, barring major disasters.

As for the Leafs, restructuring starts with having a good, consistent goalie. Why not trade for one now, e.g., Martin Biron of the Sabres who has an outstanding year? The Sabres has two good goalies in Miller and Biron. They can afford to trade one away, if the price is right.

and what exactly are you going to offer the Sabres for one of their goalies? Steen maybe or another prosepct and once again you trade away your future and are back to step one, and its just hilarious how many Leaf fans think that they can trade Belfour and get something, yep a 40 something goalie on the down side of his career, but you do have to thank him for last night it could have been 11-0 :D

Sorry, I am for the Sabres, not the Leaf. So it does not bother me at all whether it is 11-0 or 22-0 or 0-22.

It's amazing the Leaf fans are already calling for Belfour's head. What happened to EDDIE, EDDIE, EDDIE!!!! The old Leaf Nation idiocy of "what have you done for me lately". Belfour, Sundin, Domi, et al are now on the chopping block. Leaf fan whining about Joseph is sickening. That big thud you heard last night wasn't the door slamming shut as I left your wife in bed it was a multitude of Leaf fans jumping off the bandwagon.

Ok well first Ottawa has to get through Carolina, Philly,Atlanta or Buffalo in the East and then they will need to survive the Western winner ie Calgary,Detroit, Vancouver, LA maybe, Dallas?(remember when Dallas shut Ottawa out in Ottawa?)...

There are too many teams out there for Ottawa to fall to...But hell if they do the more power to the bastards...I'm confident that they won't...
