just heard on cnn, that a pornstar (or two actually) have tested positive for HIV.

one is a well recognized male and may have infected up to 16 other partners and their partners, etc,etc...

filming has stopped for now.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Movies/04/15/porn.moratorium.ap/index.html
"he first performer to test positive, whom Mitchell declined to name, was "conscientious" about having HIV tests every three weeks,"
what an asshole. i don't feel one bit sorry for him.

after reading the article, did a search on the website for the adult industry health care site

here's the quarantine list

That's all fine and dandy, but there was a thread on that a day or so earlier. But whatever.

I don't intend to flame, but could you explain this?

Assuming we accept that he did get tested regularly, what more could he have done? He had unprotected sex for a living - as did the people he had sex with. Certain risks were involved, and all parties had to be aware of what these risks were. You don't know for a fact that he contracted AIDS through irresponible behaviour outside the industry. For all we know he could have contracted it from another, as-yet-undetected porn star, or from protected sex gone wrong...

Again, I don't mean to flame, and if you know something I don't, please let me know. I think TERB is the wrong place for a less than enlightened attitude towards AIDS.

This is unreal,it does not matter when it was posted,it is very current. It was in the New Zealand paper first,as they are a day ahead, but with your attitude you probally do not understand how something posted here was posted a day later someplace else.

I guess you didn't understand the point of my post. It must have flew over your head. That's ok, I understand. You're forgiven.

This list alone shows you how 1 person can start an epidemic.

Especially, in the porn industry.

I hope all us frequent visitors of MPA's and SP's do not get out of hand by spreading more than our love around.

We've been covering the story from various news feeds since last week. It is indeed a tragedy. It's assumed that Darren got it from Brazil, where testing is non-exhistent or nebulous at best. Street tests can be bought over there for the equivalent of $10 (US).

Another problem is the complacency that came about over the last 4 years since the last outbreak. AIM could be partly responsible for this as Sharon Mitchell had often claimed that AIM has eradicated HIV from the industry. That, coupled with her claim that the PCR/DNA test is the ultimate in checking for HIV anti-bodies. Others like Mike South, swear by the Elyssa test. Then there are others who claim that the Western Blot is the best. Who knows the true answer?

Exa****ating her fantastic claims is the fact that she is not a real doctor, as she claims whenever her name appears (Dr. Sharon Mitchell). A misnomer at best, fraudulent being a rather destinct possibility as an esteemed colleague had meticulously pointed out in an exclusive news article:

http://www.the-blue-pages.com/NEWS/April2004/biz03168.html

Don't be surprised if the US Health dept steps in and does their own investigation. AVN has been doing their utmost to keep a positive spin (no pun intended) on the matter and have been requesting that those who are possibly inflicted or those with a story to tell to come and see them first.

This thing is spiralling out of control and many fear the worst and on many levels. The moratorium may or may not help. We shall see when the dust settles.
